Wal-Mart Star Trek Beyond (Walmart-exclusive mini-ships)

Link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Star-Trek-...ype=10&veh=aff

Quote:
Only at Walmart, this giftset includes Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD + Instawatch + 3 Collectible Mini Ships. The 3 ships measure approx. 3" to 4" in length, and are replicas of the Enterprise, the Star Fleet ship - the U.S.S. Franklin, and the evil Krall Swarm Ship. Each comes with its own display base.

Steelbook would be sweet, but sounds more like what Paramount/Walmart did for TF4 (minus the magnet):

At least those who got the ID set will have some more ships to add alonside the USS Vegeance.

Here in Canada at least, those EXACT same mini ships were sold as cup toppers at Cineplex movie theaters.

They do them for all kinds of things like Secret Life of Pets, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman V Superman, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and so on and so on.

I have the Enterprise and Franklin. Wasn't interested in Krall's ship. They're tiny things meant to snap onto your oversized drink cups and sell for like $3 bucks each on top of the drink cup cost.

Pretty cool set. Now I wonder if BluFans will be doing something similar?

I know they will be doing 2 OABs with 2 different WWA steelbooks similar to what FAC is doing.

Yeah I knew that too, but I was talking about something with the toys included, like they did with Transformers.

Side note, Star Trek Into Darkness is still available at Wal-Mart.

^ Compendium set makes every other release of Into Darkness irrelevant, except for the 3D. The ship and Steelbook are nice but hardly worth $40 (my cousin has this set).

It's a shame these gift sets and the BB steelbook don't include the 3D disc. Since they don't I totally lose interest and don't bother buying any of them. I wished they would and just charge another $5 or so. And no way I'm buying the regular 3D edition when it cost more than the gift set. As a result I don't buy and own less junk and will watch it on Netflix when it comes. These studios are typical and gotta get their heads straight and do it right for the fans, especially considering the dominance of steaming over disc nowadays and just their lousy and ineffective strategy of getting people to double dip, what a joke (*cough* Lucasfilm Starwars VII 3D edition)

Just sit tight for another few weeks, the 3D should go on sale around/on BF.

Yeah the compendium is fantastic with the IMAX version of ID and the case is quite nice although a sleeve jacket is in dire need for it. I bought it during boxing week 2 years ago for $9.99 at BB so for those interested in getting it wait for a sale considering the set is now incomplete and outdated !

So I finally opened them just now. ALL PLASTIC!!!! This actually makes me hate the Franklin even more. I thought they were die cast metal like the Vengence release. Not worth it at all...save your money go for the steelbook instead.
