Okay so I know it hasn't been officially announced yet but I thought I could start this thread now and the title could be a placeholder until the official title is announced. We know a new Call of Duty is coming near the end of the year(almost certainly the first Tuesday in November) and it's being developed by Treyarch. I'd expect a title announcement in either April or May sometime with possible details about the game.
What are your hopes for the series and which direction would you like to see it go? Do you want a Black Ops III or a World At War 2 or something else entirely? Treyarch was once considered the "B" team by many behind the talent of Infinity Ward which made other COD games(most notably Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, but recently many have thought that Treyarch may now be the premier Call of Duty development talent. Treyarch has made the following Call of Duty games: Call of Duty 3(2006) Call of Duty: World At War(2008) Call of Duty: Black Ops(2010) Call of Duty: Black Ops II(2012) |

Black Ops had my favorite MP in the entire series. I loved how pop-y the guns sounded. Almost like you were shooting toy guns. The maps were awesome and even though BO2 had the RC-XD, it just seemed more fun in the first one. I liked them to return to the Cold War.

Ghosts had great maps, but the gameplay was a bit annoying. Black ops 2 was the last great CoD. Sadly, AW and Ghosts killed the franchise for me, and I won't return to Black Ops 3 or whatever it is. I bought AW for 70 bucks during that psn sale (digital deluxe) and actually already deleted it. Broke for me to hang up the CoD towel. I've played every single one since 2 on 360. It's been a fun ride. |

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a World at War 2. I thought that World at War was pretty good. I hope Treyarch makes the veteran difficulty really hard the last few COD games from Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have been total pushovers on the hardest difficulty. I used to love the challenge of beating the campaigns on veteran on the older CODs because they were pretty hard.

The next generation systems still haven't had their Call of Duty 4 moment yet. That game started a frenzy last generation. I remember watching the E3 footage and thinking that's what I've been looking for. I don't think any game on either system has really been a phenomenon yet.
I've had a pretty steady playgroup of friends I personally knew and friends of friends. From COD4 to Ghosts, almost all of us would max prestige and pub stomp. Advanced Warfare kind of broke up the band. Most of the core group is on next gen but we're all kind of left hungry. COD4 wasn't released on the PS2 or Xbox. I want something created without the last generation in mind. Unfortunately there is too much money to be lost for them not to do that with Call of Duty at this point. Treyarch does mean one thing though... ZOMBIES!!! |

I'm not sure where the idea of World At War 2 came from; BO2 ended on a cliffhanger moment, with Sam Worthington's character being asked where he had been for so many years. There is zero reason for Treyarch to effectively bail out on the third Black Ops game to revisit a title dating back to 2008! If Sledgehammer were concerned with BO3 treading similar ground to Advanced Warfare with it's 'Future Tech' setting, then having BO3 take place during the 40 year gap between BO1 and 2 makes more sense. Thoughts?

Well I originally didn't think that the Call of a Duty series would go back to either of the Modern Warfare or Black Ops names for the new generation. I kinda figured with Ghosts and Advanced Warfare that those other games might be left behind. I'm certainly not upset about it though!
So what do we get from Call of Duty in 2016 now? I'd bet it's Modern Warfare 4. Do you guys think that's likely or is there a better chance of Ghosts 2. |
