Default Moderators closing threads ...

It seems one after the other Warner thread discussing the shipping and canceled orders woes are being closed by the moderators. This includes the sticky "Warner Shipping" thread.

I know various members are very passionate about this resulting in some heated discussions at times. There are members who want to take advantage of this by keeping/selling the discs and members who truely want to return the discs, but also not want to get screwed by having to pay return shipping and/or still being charged for the items.

I think it is important we can continue to discuss this topic in a civilized manner so members can find out - from other members - on how they approached warner about this, how they are handling the return shipping etc. etc.

So, to all moderators .... Can you please NOT close every single thread discussing this topic? If certain posts are out of line, can't you just delete that post, instead of closing the whole topic?

I feel that moderators are closing warners thread because CES is coming and we dont want to piss them off and make them go HD Dud Exclusive... I wouldnt want to piss them off even when they made few mistakes... WE all make mistakes and I really want them to go Blu exclusive..
just my 2 cents on the reason of closing threads
But, i agree wit you, mods should delete uncivilized comments

You made a good point and I guess I can see the logic in that.

If this is indeed the case, it would have been nice if the moderators had posted that as a reason for closing the thread instead of just "Closed ...".

I dont think a few mindless threads are going to prevent warner from going exclusive. I agree that certain posts should be deleted but I think the topic was pretty valid and I see no reason to delete the posting altogether.

So we have 2 people that say you should delete posts only and 1 that says we shouldnt delete the thread... Mods, please explain! what was your logic?

If you read the last message in the thread that you started, you will see the reason why it was closed.

And while it might seem simple for moderators to simply delete "inappropriate" posts, often when a thread gets to a certain tone, deleting posts would just get more in their place unfortunately.

Maybe I misunderstood his last post, but what I gathered is that he does not want us to discuss strategies on how to screw Warner (which I agree with -- in my post I mentioned strategies on how to deal with Warner in regards to returning the discs). He also goes on to say there is a sticky thread for this discussion .. but alas ... it is CLOSED.

i think the mods do an outstanding job, its hard to mod and run a site, and the guys here do it 'in the background' which is the way to do it. regarding closed threads, i think they are trying to keep it tidy?

I'm a noob here, but please permit me my 2-cents. I moderated a college sports board for a while. It sucks.

You can never make everybody happy and at times it seems you can't make anybody happy.

Please always give the mods your support and the benefit of the doubt. Speaking from personal experience -- It's a thankless job.

A Mods job should be thankless.

And from vast experience in forum use, Mods should also never be seen nor heard from.

p.s.

Not all the mods here keep themselves from being heard. I can vouch on that fact.

Personally I would like to see one of these threads continue, I know I cancel an order from Warner so I want to read what problems everyone is having returning them, etc... just in case I receive my Cancel Order.

You don't need to speak to a poster on this forum on how to resolve an issue with Warner ordering process. Your on line Warner order gives you telephone and email contact info if you have issues with them.

Call and speak to Warner Customer Service if you want to find out how to properly amend a possible wrong.

If anything, I think many are looking to other forum members to validate their desire to cheat Warner given the chance. Why do I say that? Its been made clear by many posters on this forum that they will take a mile when given an inch anytime they can when dealing with any corporation.

I understand what you're saying, but I read a post that said they received a cancel order, called Customer Service, and now they have to pay to return it because they open the box, instead of refusing the package.

Now that's good information to know.

Perhaps I should've use the word "unappreciated" rather than "thankless".

unappreciated is right. Those of us who have moderated or even run a board appreciate all the efforts of the site team here, and i think most of us know they are doing a great job.

Indeed; also, and this was also the case with the Disney POTC disc replacement, people get a hold of a specific phone number, email address or just a very friendly CSR. That is good information to know as well.

People's mileage my vary depending on who they speak with etc. etc. So I would personally find these types of topics still very informative.

I will call warner as soon as I can get in MyExpressCheckout to print off my order numbers/statuses -- it seems to be down for me. Is myexpresscheckout down for anyone else?

Its a free site, no membership fees so they have the right to do this. I got a thread deleted myself asking when Disney might release Black Hole. Maybe they though I was a perv or somehting. I did not take it personal though.
