Default Is there A Oppo 4K Blu-ray Player available

I hope this isn't posted in the wrong section although I'm curious why no one has posted any info on their new proposed player. Considering it might be out by the end of this year or early next there should be some info from them.

I didn't know there was one proposed. Is there a link you could provide to where they say they have one coming?

if you are suggesting there is one, why didn't you?

also, your thread title is quite deceiving as it would make people think your potentially talking about "an actual newly proposed player" when your not; was that by design?

i will personnally wait until oppo releases something officially.

Just a simple question mark would've saved me the bother of clicking on this thread.

No link, although that was my question. With the other players they were announced or at least news came out ages before their official release.

“Proposed Oppo 4K Bluray Player”, that was my clue this thread was a early April 1st hoax. One would think after all these years folks would have learned it is Blu-ray, not Blu ray, Bluray, Blu-Ray, BluRay, Blu Ray.

A little bit of irony her, this site and others still flags “Blu-ray” as being misspelled. Must be because of the hyphen (or is it a en dash) in the name.

because unless, like Panasonic, you take an old BD player and say "4k prototype", there is really nothing else to say on the subject. The 4k BD specs have not been finalized yet so obviously there cannot be any 4k BD player specs yet.

there won't be any such thing as "4K BD." The correct name is Ultra HD Blu-ray and the specs were agreed upon on February 16th.

agree that UHD is the official name but since the OP was using 4k I thought it easier than tro try and also explain the difference (plus everyone is usingboth terms as synonyms.

do you have a link to the finalized specs that came out on Feb 16?

http://4k.com/news/4k-blu-ray-disc-s...inalized-5652/

I haven't been able to find the source material, presumably a press release from the BDA

but look at what that article says
Quote:
The Blu-Ray Disc Association has put together a more or less conclusive agreement on a batch of standards for the next generation of players and disc media called “Ultra HD Blu-ray”.
it states that they are not finalized or complete specs but a list on some of the standards that will most likely be introduced into he final specs.

on the other hand if things need to be clearer http://mesalliance.org/blog/uncatego...still-in-flux/

fair play.

regardless. It's a pretty big stretch to say that they would release Ultra HD Blu-rays and players that won't work with tvs currently on the market. the first Ultra HD Blu-ray players will probably come out before Christmas, and there are very few new televisions that will come out between now and then.

It's much more reasonable, from the perspective of the business of selling new media, that they would author a standard that at a minimum would support the majority of 4K TVs that have already been sold, the 2013 and 2014 models.

I fully expect Ultra HD Blu-ray spec to carry some additional features that will need to be implemented in future televisions, but at a minimum I see no logical reason to believe that a 4K tv sold in the last year at least wouldn't be capable of displaying Ultra HD Blu-rays.

Dolby 5.1 AVRs didn't become useless just because they released Atmos.

I have read the final specs will be locked in come this June.
I have emailed oppo asking about any future Ultra HD Blu-ray player and await a response.

So why didn't you just email them to begin with instead of setting up this clickbait thread?

Then I wouldn't have the honor of you stating the obvious. This place seems slightly infested with uptight people or is merely this thread.
