Default Speakers problem

Hey guys, I got an HDTV and such and I also bought a 5.1 LG home theater system. When I hooked up the LG home theater system, only the 2 front speakers and the subwoofer worked when I played my Ozzy CD. Can someone give me some tips on what to check?

Cd's are only 2 channel so your gonna have to make sure that your receiver is capable of dolby pro logic II and that it's enabled so it can matrix the two channel source into five channels.

So the CD's can only run 2 speakers and a sub woofer? What can I use to test the full 5.1?

try a movie like Pirates or (my personal favorite scene for pure sound engineering) Swordfish. The scene with the exploding bomb and all of the ball bearings whizzing around is AMAZING. I'm sure there are lots of others that will do the job as well but I just love that scene.

You can get simulated 5.1 sound from cd's as long as the lg is capable of dolby prologic II. It takes the 2 channel cd audio and creates a 5.1 simulation of it. Most receivers have this capability check the manual. In order to get true 5.1 sound pop in a movie with dolby digital sound or dts(if your lg supports it) and enjoy.
