Default Hd Dvd Drive

Ok, I know how people on here are religously blu..BUT, I have to have the best of both worlds. I have a xbox 360 and ps3. My home entertainment system is REVOLVED around bluray...however, Universal makes some pretty good ass movies and I need a hd dvd player for them. My question is: do they make laptops with HD DVD players? Please noe hateful posts. thanx

Oh I'll try not to be hateful... :P

But yeah...Toshiba makes a bunch of laptops with the hd-dvd drive.

I'm waiting for Apple to finally implement a Blu-ray drive in their systems before I buy another computer.

But...if you have a 360, why wouldn't you just buy the HD-DVD add on, it's definitely cheaper than buying a new laptop.

I have to confess. My ex girlfriend got a toshiba laptop and it was one of the better ones I'd played around with...

Course there are plenty others I'd rather have that support blu...

But yeah, I like toshiba's laptops and that's about it.

my laptop is originally HD DVD based, and can play HD DVD. I took out the HD DVD, and replaced it with BD. the HD DVD is left externally connected to USB.

Check out:
Acer laptops
ASUS laptops
Rock Laptops
HP laptops
Toshiba laptops

For BD, check out:
Sony laptops
ASUS laptops
gateway
HP laptops (business)
Acer laptops
Dell laptops

I chose my laptop (HP Pavilion HDX) because of its large screen and brand (HP). If it's not, then I'll go with sony vaio

toshiba laptops are rubbish. I owned it once (in fact, until now). After that, I never purchased toshiba laptops anymore. I switched to HP/Sony, although I haven't bought Sony VAIO at all, but I still consider sony my second option.

Also, toshiba laptops can't get its Optical drive swapped, along with Asus. That means, you can't swap to BD drive. Whi8le mine (HP Pavilion HDX) was HD DVD, but I swapped to BD drive that I got from ebay

When I buy a laptop, I don't want to have to swap anything...which is why I'm waiting for apple to get blu in there.

I agree with you actually. When I swapped the drive, I thought it's not going to work. I took bold risk because I love both HP and Blu-ray. It appeared that I did not install it properly, and the drive works after I pushed it further deep into the Optical disc drive hole.... It's like having a shock to found out it did not work at first

i got no choice: sony's laptop are overpriced, and the keyboard are not full, only 17 inch. otherwise, it would be sony for me.

Yeah, but I have the old xbox 360 that doesn't have the HDMI output...it'd kinda be a waste..plus I need a new laptop anyway

Component cables output up to 1080i on the 360...may not be as great as HDMI, but considering that the add-on only supports 1080i anyway...doesn't really matter.

Plus...is there even a laptop that would support HDMI output?

If the video on the laptop has the newest ATI chipset than yes it can support HDMI. If they incorporated it into the laptop is an other matter.

People calling the Toshiba laptops junk haven't put one to the test I guess. They make one of the most durable systems out there. They can really take some abuse. I have a feeling people don't like just because they make HD DVD which is a shame. They make some nice products.

Sony's are the only laptops I've came across with a HDMI output. I almost bought one, but went with the Dell XPS M1710 instead. My laptop has DVI, VGA and S-Video outputs.
