Hey everyone. I've got a computer-related technical question for you:
In Summer 2015, I got a new computer that I was, overall, very happy with. I stream a lot, and it's been very fast & I've been fairly satisfied with everything. This computer came with the Windows 8.1 Operating System, and that worked out well for me. Fast forward to several months ago (early Summer 2016). My computer - without my manually doing this- forced an update to Windows Operating System 10. And, ever since then the computer has been a real P.O.S. to deal with. Streaming has slowed down, and other programs have slowed down as well. It's especially been bad in the past several weeks. Not only that, I find Windows 10 to be a lot less user-friendly & much more laborious to deal with. Essentially, I hate this damn Windows 10 OS. Note that I'm 100% the problem is software-based, not hardware based - I've had a lot of computers in my life & a lot of computer issues that I've troubleshooted; so, I know the difference between a software & hardware problem. So, I wanted to wipe the Windows 10 OS & re-install the Windows 8.1 OS. I did some research, and unfortunately it turns out that I can't re-install Windows 8.1 from the hard drive itself, since it's not available anymore. So, I noticed that my computer came with a red recovery Disk (CD) with Windows 8.1. I have wiped my hard drive in the past & have done so by putting the recovery disk in there, restarting the computer - and, when it comes back on it has recognized the recovery CD & gone through the recovery process - from the recovery CD. So, I went ahead and put the Windows 8.1 recovery CD in the computer, it wiped the hard drive, and re-installed the Operating System. However, despite the recovery CD - it re-installed the Windows 10 OS, not Windows 8.1! Though the computer is a lot faster now than it was before the re-install, streaming is still jerky at times. So, I'm not happy with this. So, does anyone have any solutions to this? Is there a way I re-install Windows 8.1 from the Internet? Or, is there a way that I can do this using the Windows 8.1 Recovery Disk (and just didn't do this right the first time)?! The reason I'm asking this question on this forum is because I know a lot of people are very technically savvy about Blu's, computers, etc. - so, I thought someone may have some knowledge about how to do this. Thanks in advance for any info./feedback on this! Last edited by AnamorphicWidescreen; 09-14-2016 at 05:37 PM. |
