Great to see a new film on 3D Blu-ray... the only downside is it might not be English-friendly and there might not be any English subtitles.

Awesome and great find! There are English subs in that trailer, so hopefully they are included. Or at least they are available somewhere so I could mux them in.

Great! A completely new unexpected 3D disc

Now also available for preorder at "JPC" Germany:
https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/movie/detai.../hnum/10754647

Is this native 3D or converted?

The creature design in this movie was good. The story not so much.

There are much better Chinese 3D films that should see the light of day imo but I’ll take what I can get I guess

Looks like a 3D conversion by Cubic Pictures. I believe it was originally released 2D internet streaming in China.

A promising start to 2022, the year of Avatar 2. Have Chinese conversions improved? I guess we’ll find out. I’m not expecting strong 3d (or a strong film) but this one seems to stand by the quality of its visuals, which can only be enhanced by the format.

The last Blu-ray 3D of a Cubic Pictures exclusive conversion was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny from 2016. I thought it was pretty average 3D, but not bad. Glad to have it.

Hey BleedOrange, thanks for the info on Cubic Pictures. There is interesting info on Cubic pictures website about the 2D -3D conversion process used. Seems they created a low cost type of auto conversion that works great putting each object in a scene into its own 3D space. Thousand faces of Dunjia is a great example. Scenes in the caves and forest consistently show great detail and separation in the rock walls, crevasses and trees(Telgram Sam would be proud)

The Thousand Faces of DunJia 3D Blu Ray is also available. I thought the 3D was great overall.

From website:
“ DXR ® advantages

DXR® technology conversion requires building virtual reality 3D space for film scenes, and most of the films converted from real shot 3D are almost indistinguishable.

While ensuring high-quality services in the industry, the highly automated and systematic production process of DXR® technology can also greatly shorten the production cycle, providing a stable and reliable guarantee for the three-dimensional effect and timely release of the film.

Virtual mapping protects your data at a high level recognized by the industry. The DXR® production process integrates fingerprint identification, multi-dimensional watermarking, encrypted transmission and other technologies. The DXR® production center has passed ISO27001 and ISO9001 standards.

Virtual mapping has reached the production capacity to convert 1-2 minutes of movies a day. Usually, a 100-minute movie is converted in about three months.”

Holy shit, Dunjia is a CONVERSION? And AUTOMATIC, to boot??? Zounds! I figured it was natively shot, the 3D looked so good. Not on the same level as Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate, but fairly close I thought! Wow. If only the conversions of countless Hollywood films could have used this process.

Dunjia is half native, half conversion. I guess the CG elements were rendered natively.

This Wuxia film, a genre of Chinese fiction brimming with martial arts action and spellbinding visuals, was released December 15. Cubic Pictures DXR® technology is applied to the conversion of nearly half of the whole feature.
Dunjia is shot with 3D rigs as well. I think they are stretching it, saying they converted "nearly half" the feature.

The DXR® technology does sound very promising. We will find out just how good the 3D conversion tech is when Monster Run is released in January(Assuming the movie wasn’t shot with stereo cameras). Fingers crossed.

Odd the German title is "Monster Hunt", an existing HK 3D movie.

Jagt is German for "hunt". In no world does it translate to "Run"...

Yes, but one is in german and the other is in english... just there is the difference, here there are movies that have same titles translated... to differentiate them some are adapted/translated and others stay with thetr titles in the original language.

Default Email requesting English subtitles

Here's an email I just shot off to Koch Media at office@kochmedia.com. No doubt a futile attempt but it only took a minute:
----------------------

Subject: Monster-Jagd 3D Blu-ray-- 2022-01-27 release-- REQUEST for English subtitles
To: office@kochmedia.com

Dear Sir or Madam,

3-D movie enthusiasts were excited to hear of the upcoming 3-D Blu-ray release of Monster-Jagd.

Pre-orders have been placed and we'll do our best to support companies that support the 3-D format.

I also hope that before you manufacture the discs, your firm would consider adding English subtitles to service fans in the English speaking areas of the world.

Thank you for your consideration!
Jason
