![]() ![]() Universal Germany will release the first season of the TV series Shades of Blue (2016-) on 24 November 2016. Germany appears to be the only territory where the series will be offered on Blu-ray. In the UK, Universal have slated a DVD-only release (with German and Nordic options, apparently) for 3 October 2016. In the US, Universal released the season on DVD-R media back in May. |

McCrutchy, it's very much appreciated you posting about this. I did notice a few weeks ago (on Amazon UK) how there was yet another US TV series getting a DVD-only release in the UK by Universal. We could go on about it until the cows come home (Chicago Fire, Bates Motel, Suits and Grimm aside, there aren't many other US TV series getting Blu-ray releases in the UK), so where I can, I'll do my bit to get other US (and UK and European TV series) TV series on Blu-ray.

And yes, it's a shame that more TV show seasons don't get released on BD in the UK and USA. On the other hand, however, I'd still much rather import an English-friendly release from Germany than have no release at all. In fact, I like how Universal really seems keen to release a handful of shows on Blu-ray where possible, and hopefully we will start to see even more of their classic shows from them and/or licensees like Fabulous Films, Koch Media and Via Vision, too. I was very pleased to see this pre-order for Shades of Blue for just these reasons, especially as I was keen to give this one a watch, and see how nuts it gets. I understand it isn't high art, but it should hopefully be watchable, at least. |

On that note, just wanted to check that this Shades of Blue is indeed 1080p/24. A few German releases are 1080i/50. Most recently I bought the German release of Caprica (as it stated 1080p), but like the French release (which I own), it was 1080i/50. ![]() Can anyone disc owners confirm that this a 1080p release? ![]() |

Thanks McCrutchy.
It seems that Germany can be the place to go for some TV on BD titles (Hawaii Five-O, Californication). Australia did have BD releases for Five-O until until S3 all but the last season for Californication. ![]() Would like to order French release of Crash at same time as Aquarius S2... (Aussie Icon release of Crash was 1080i/50!). ![]() |
