Default Yo-Kai Watch The Movie Will Be Shown In U.S. Movie Theaters

Quote:
Level-5 and Eleven Arts announced on Thursday that they have partnered with Fathom Events to screen Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie, the first Yo-kai Watch anime film, in select theaters in the United States for a one-day screening on October 15.

Fathom Events' website will host the full list of theaters screening the film on October 16.

Eleven Arts describes the film:

In YO-KAI WATCH: THE MOVIE EVENT, Jibanyan, Whisper, and Nate meet a heroic Yo-kai named Hovernyan, and must travel back in time to team up with Nate's adolescent grandfather to stop an evil Yo-kai from taking over the world! Can they discover the secret origin of the Yo-kai Watch and save humanity before time runs out!?

The film will feature the voice cast from the Yo-kai Watch television anime's Disney XD English dub. It also introduces Hovernyan, a floating blue cat who is the companion of Nate's grandfather Nathaniel.

Theatergoers will also be able to receive a limited-edition Hovernyan Yo-motion Medal, which can be used with the Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy, and unlocks content in the Yo-kai Watch Land and Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble apps, and the YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls Nintendo 3DS games.

The Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble app will have a limited-time Hovernyan event that will tie in to the film.

The film premiered in Japan in December 2014. The film was the top grossing domestic film in Japan in 2015, and earned 7.8 billion yen (about US$65 million). It ranked #1 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend by selling 1,484,916 tickets for 1,628,893,000 yen (about US$13.53 million). The film retained its #1 ranking for two weeks after opening, and stayed in the top 10 for 11 weeks. The film also topped the 2015 animation DVD sales.

The Yo-kai Watch television anime premiered on Disney XD last October.

So dubbed edited only? Pass. I'll wait for it to be uncut and in Japanese on teh BD.

I do wonder if the Japanese language version would even be localized at all. Like English voices only for America is what I am guessing. Not that I am saying it's impossible, but is something to think about.

This is 2016 and 4Kids no longer exists. I see no reason why this would be an issue anymore.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V Blu-ray in America is English Dub only. Though mostly because it has things Edited out or changed. Though Yo-Kai Watch seems a little more intact, but still has the American-ized names and such. Like Nate would be Keita in the Japanese version.

Doraemon which was also on Disney XD has Nobita Nobi as Noby Nobi.

So basically, when marketing to American children, these things are going to happen no matter if 4Kids or anyone like it is around or not. Though now 4Kids is now called 4K Media which is owned by Konami(probably because of Yu-Gi-Oh!).

Yeah, but Yu-Gi-Oh!'s last movie was uncut and included the Japanese version as will the next one.

As for Arc-V, I forgot it even existed so I never bothered to pay attention to it. The series has long overstayed its welcome.

Oh, and **** KONAMI!!

I would personally love to see the original Yu-Gi-Oh!(before the card game stuff series) localized besides in Manga form.

I couldn't even make it past 10 episodes of the original anime, it is dreadful.

I'd rather see them just do an exact manga adaption of the original series, especially since they royally screwed up the Memories arc in the anime.

They want this to be the next Pokemon so bad but I just don't see it paying off any.

I mean before I quit earlier this year when I worked in retail the toys sold pretty well over here.
Not as well as some other 2015-16 toy staples but we had a pretty steady flow of them coming in and out.

On October 15, 2016, Yo-kai Watch: The Movie will be shown at 11am (local time) in select theaters across the United States. An opportunity to see the movie for free has appeared ahead of the event. A Yo-kai Watch News tweet has revealed a GameStop promotion that can help people get a free ticket to the movie.

To take advantage of the offer, someone must visit a GameStop store and spend $10 or more on Yo-kai Watch merchandise. This should apply to medals, toys, and even a copy of Yo-kai Watch 2 for the Nintendo 3DS. A code will be printed on your receipt. You then enter that code at Fandango when buying a ticket to get in for free.

The events of Yo-kai Watch: The Movie have quite a bit in common with the Yo-kai Watch 2 Nintendo 3DS games. Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan travel back in time to team up with Nate’s grandfather and Hovernyan to face a new menace to both humans and Yo-kai.

I'll pass on this-it's too kiddie oriented for me. More like Saturday morning cartoon fare.
