Announched on their Facebook

I'll most likely pick this up seeing how the ADV DVD's are really expensive

I think so too. I'd be surprised if there is a bluray. My ADV DVD's look great but has slight interlacing issues I hope are fixed

I got 1 of the thinpack sets from ADV, but didn't like the fact that it lacked any Extras besides Trailers for other ADV Films titles.

Hopefully Discotek does get those extras (The booklets from the singles sadly won't make it), seems this had some really good ones.

On another note, seems ADV REALLY liked working on this series.

Well they did but now it sems like they don't want anything that has Illich Guardiola in it as Main Character or at least like a Supporting Main Character which is kind of a shame since he was pretty hilarious in this series as Hayashida.

Nothing carried over actually, Discotek is missing all of the extras from the ADV Films singles (the ADV thinpaks like usual stripped the show of all of its extras to give more incentive to buy the singles which pay the bills). The best release to own are the singles + artbox (that's usually what you want for most shows in general).

Yeah, I figured. Sigh. Time to start hunting. I kind of prefer the fat sexy chipboard single sets, anyway, regardless of features. The ADV thinpak stuff was infuriating.

I was hoping because it was Discotek it would have some love. They've betrayed me.

Thanks to you both. <3

I bought the thinpak set for like $9 a few months before they announced the new set. Sucks it is missing stuff though saves a little shelf space I guess.

Discotek rarely gets extras back for rescues. Note how often they've appeared on this list. They're about as big of an offender as FUNimation was with those up until around 2011 (FUNi still misses stuff these days sometimes though. Ex: Code Geass).

Though I have to wonder how many do have extras and it's just the retailer descriptions and covers aren't saying anything.

Something that was pointed out to me by someone on Twitter is that only covers from Brady Hartel will ever include special features on there, while for some reason the retailer listings tend to not list them. Whoever they have doing everything else doesn't bother with listing extras on the back cover.

I saw your similar post on fandom! Was going to add to it, but I'd much rather build on the one here.

I've noticed a TON of DVD and Blu releases missing the features on the packaging. It makes it difficult when sifting through the past to get details. Maybe the art is finalized before features are, or being vague leads us to believe it's all there so we take the leap. Singles usually tell it how it is on the packaging, and even when looking through reviews from yesteryear the data is presented and easy to find. At least that's been my experience. More reason to go for the original releases, I suppose.

Since most of my Discoteks are original releases of theirs or rescues of older movies and OVAs, I had usually gotten the impression that they do try to include any past extras that they can.

I would love to see upcoming Anime new releases in a separate category from upcoming new release regular films. It's irritating to click on what sounds like an interesting movie, only to have it be Anime.

Might as well make this necrobump useful.

Announced earlier this week:

https://www.rightstufanime.com/Croma...School-Blu-ray

https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/st...11123122364421

Quote:
Cromartie High School

Takashi transfers to Cromartie, the toughest & most delinquent filled school there is, in theory.

In reality it's full of weirdness, a gorilla, a guy named Freddie, a robot, plus the delinquents.

And the chaos never ends.
https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/st...14529214402561 (thread)

Quote:
Cromartie High School is up to pre-order!

Takashi was prepared for delinquents when he transferred to the legendarily tough school, but no one mentioned robots, gorillas, a guy named Freddie, & 100 other problems.

But he will flourish, if he survives.

The signature minimal style of Cromartie comes across decently on Blu-ray, with an upscale used elsewhere.

The subtitles for the JP audio have been gone over & the classic English dub is here in 5.1

Extras include Clean OPs & EDs, various promos, warning screens, & more!

Cromartie High School is an often surreal comedy that plays well off a number of characters, and just having fun with them.

It tweaks a number of conventions & things you tend to see in shows while also winking at the audience about the lunacy of it all.

I'm going to hold until I see screen caps, mostly because I just bought the ADV boxset
