I'm looking to buy the 55E6P and noticed there's quite a difference in price from dealers who are not listed as being authorized. If something were to go wrong with the TV will LG not honor the warranty?

It's a gamble. If the TV works for 2 or 3 years then it's proabably ok. But you will not have any warranty at all. Even getting an aftermarket extended warranty can be a pain. My I would also buy from an authorized dealer just to be safe.

If an unauthorized dealer is selling any set, it's called trans-shipping. If warranty is ever needed, the manufacturer can tell via the serial number, who thew TV was shipped to originally and they can be shut down for re-directing product. No warranty is given in these instances. It's done to protect the authorized dealers. Otherwise it's a free for all - a wildwest mentality where no one is protected, including the consumer.

An authorized dealer is usually easier to deal with if something goes wrong. Better customer service, etc. There are exceptions (see the Frys OLED thread at AVSForum), but I believe authorized dealers offer more peace of mind, which IMO is important when buying a TV online.
