You have received an infraction at AVS Forum
Dear ...,

You have received an infraction at AVS Forum.

Reason: Blu-ray/HD DVD Issues 1 Day Suspension
-------
continues to post rumors despite warnings and infractions
-------

This infraction is worth 5 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

Original Post:

The opening line of Rob Enderle's latest article says it all.

Quote:
According to Pali Research, Time Warner will declare its support for Blu-Ray in early 2008, deciding the HD wars.
The last time I posted a thread about this, it was removed, and I was given an in fraction. This is now around the 5th or 6th article stating the exact same thing.

Now if you've ever read Enderle on Engadget before, you would know that he is unabashedly in favor of HD-DVD over Blu-Ray. So his admission here is telling, and you can CLEARLY see he is posting this info begrudgingly, through what can only be described as an angry grimace.

So is it still a rumor?

they banned me for posting the enderle article.

I'm not suprised by this ban. They are in such denial it is amazing.

Keep spreading the truth! It is coming with or with-out AVS's blessing.

Why does anyone even want to be a member of AVS anymore?

That forum serves no conceivable purpose, at least in its HD areas. I've ignored it for the best part of this year, and saved myself a lot of stress.

It's going to be a tough haul for some of these people between now and CES 2008 on January 7.

You can't blame them, investing lots of money into a soon to be dead format.

But, they have to blame themselves for their blind, unfounded hatred of Sony, which describes a majority of HD owners.

You mean "HD-DVD owners."

Real HT and HD enthusiasts are not soley HD-DVD supporters and shunning BD entirely.

I think AVS will be glad when the war is over. Full time job containing the forums from the sounds of it hehe.

Pretty soon, you will be banned just for mentioning the word Blu-ray on AVS.

I don't understand the Sony hatred either, I know a hell of a lot more MS haters out there by far. We'll see how many there are when this is all over.

I have NEVER had a single problem with any of them. Every Microsoft product i've ever had (Windoes 95, 98, XP) need to be rebooted constantly. They're dogs, no matter how fast my PCs are. They suck! Microsoft sucks. My next computer will be a MAC. A Microsoft-free home is something I am looking forward to, as soon as I can afford it.
I have been equally confused by that. Hating Sony by supporting Microsoft makes no sense to me. Maybe they're uneducated about what Microsoft has done to the PC Software industry, and blind to how they operate today. Or perhaps too young to remember it.

*shrug
I dunno

I read Enderle's original article and yes he does say this begrudgingly. And AVS *are* desperate. Enderle's article does reference speculation, but the existence of the article itself is a fact. This is the type of censorship folks deal with in China and Burma.

I disagree with a few of Enderle's arguments; most factual disagreement is that he fails to mention that HD downloads cannot yet be sustained on a large scale by the Internet infrastructure. And although I'm an avid ad free iTunes TV downloader, I think there will be a demand for ownership of a physical movie library for a long time.

Sure, I'll buy each Stargate episode for download as it's released; but in the end, I want the DVDs/BDs so that I can hold them, own them, and have the best hi-def version available.
