I'm guessing a late September/early October release. That seems feasible.

Why? We know that most movies will be out 3-4 months after a theatrical release? I don't see a problem with the quick pre-orders.

It's just crazy to me, the movie is barely even out a day and they're rushing to make $ on the home video portion beside the theater.

I tend to agree with you but I'm also the guy who complains that Christmas stuff shows up in August at stores, so this feels the same to me.

On topic, for Gosling fans who don't know much about this one, I'll be the first to warn you this has the potential to be the worst blind buy in the world.

I recommend a rental over a blind buy of this.

I didn't really like Drive, but that one was a lot better than this.

I was already heading into the city to see Blackfish tomorrow, so I'm going to do a double feature with this. My expectations are fairly muted though.

*Love seeing that Paulette Goddard avatar through out the boards..
Anyways, I keep hearing negative things for this film even from the Drive fans. I'm going to watch it anyways probably tomorrow through Comcast or Vudu, so pissed i live in an area that doesn't get these sort of films until weeks out. Used to live in Atlanta where I was spoiled with these artsy films.
I know what to expect from reading reviews. I'm totally aware that this will be style over substance, cool with me.

Eh, even the style is lacking a bit.

Could this be a criterion release? Since Refn visited the Criterion closet?

Why? I haven't seen the film yet, but the very decisive reactions and the supposedly gorgeous cinematography are perfect attributes for a Criterion release.

Edit: I heard it from a fellow poster on instagram which is weird. I wonder where he got that information.

I'd rather see Drive or that trilogy he made.

This movie was very average.

Yeah, there are so many different opinions going around. I am definitely going to see it eventually.

For those who are out of luck, like me, who don't have this showing in your local theater, check your local cable provider for On Demand.

I have Bright House Networks, and they have it up right now for $6.99 rental in SD or HD-- Guess which one I'm choosing. I never was for VOD, but because I have no other option, and I believe (correct me if wrong) this VOD stuff still supports the movie, I'm watching it tonight. Just waiting until 12am just in case it goes by time for a 24 hour rental, or however long it is.

I was a bit disappointed in the film (and I even liked Valhalla Rising), but it looked and sounded amazing. The Blu-ray presentation should be stellar.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Pusher Trilogy on Blu, that seems a great choice for Criterion.

Just the saw the film, I thought it was fantastic! I am sure it will have a following. There was a nice blend of both styles used in Drive and Valhalla Rising, which worked for me. Loved the look of the film and the score.
