Is anything really worth the price?

I enjoy my Harmony One. I also enjoyed my Harmony 688. If I'm happy and it does everything I need it to do, then yes, it is worth it.

If it did not do everything I want to it do, then no it is not.

Personally, I think it is.

Yes. The H1 is worth the price. Looks better than all the other Harmony Remotes and is easier to use. Feels good in the hand and the LCD touchscreen is great.

I can absolutely recommend the Harmony One. The one and only downfall that I can think of is that it's not RF.

I have an 880 and love it. I got my dad a 670 and I think he likes it.

I want to get a new remote and move the 880 to the bedroom. I am debating the H1 or the 1000. Any thoughts?

+1

I just got mine from Amazon for under $200. They were running a special that included an additional $20 off with mail-in rebate, bringing the total price to somewhere in the neighborhood of $160.

As far as value is concerned: "value" is a subjective term, especially in this context. If it does what you want it to do, and it didn't break the bank; does that make it worth the cost? You could probably get by with far less expensive remotes, but then you're not getting the features that the Harmony One provides...but maybe that's enough. It's all relative!

I'd say if you're OK with spending $200 on a remote, the Harmony One is a good value and quite possibly the last remote you'll need for a long time.

Is the $60 difference between the 880 and the one worth it? Is it just for the touch screen? I have the 676 right now, would I be satisfied with the 880 instead of the one? Which would work better for an wife that is not into electronics?

My wife, who is not so into electronics, really likes our 880.

I like the 880 and it works great, but it seems like some of the buttons are in "unnatural" locations and I hear they corrected this w/ the H1.

Now, make me a H1 w/ RF please.

It's hard to compare the One to the 1000 because they are so different. The 1000 takes 2 hands to control or needs to be sitting on a surface. The One fits easily in your hand. It's really a personal preference issue.

I've got the One and 880 and love them both. I prefer the One, but the 880 is a great remote also. I would recommend either. I think they are both worth the money.

Thanks. If I could see a working on in the store, I could more easily decide. I know it is not RF, but is the 880 directional, or is it pretty forgiving when pointing it?

Pretty forgiving, as long as your dog isn't standing in front of the component

Thumbs up The Harmony One

I held off on buying a Universal Remots for quite some time, thinking that it would be an absolute pain to set up, it wouldn't do what I wanted it to do and would do nothing but aggrivate me.

I can say without question that the Harmony One has been nothing short of awesome. I've had it now for about a month and have loved every minute. It takes some time setting the preferences the way you like them, but once you do it's so refreshing to have, just as the name says, one remote.

As far as which remote to get, I can't tell you what will work best for your system. For me, I wanted something handheld and easy for the better half to use. The One has done that and I look forward to years and years of enjoyability.

Thanks. I was thinking I may jump in and get the Harmony 1. My 676 has button problems. I just need to find a great deal. Amazon has it for about $180 right now, which I believe is the best price around right now. Not even that good of a discount at circuit city.

I was asking myself the same question after i bought my Harmony One. When i first set it up it didn't control everything how i wanted and not working like it should. It only did the basic functions and it seemed flaky...But it was more my fault then the remote. I kept putting it off to spend some time and get it setup, until i decided that i need this $200 remote to do more then the basic functions and get rid of all the other remotes for good!

Once i got it setup correctly and figured out how to use it properly it worked great, it controls everything in my HT. A cheap $15 Nyko blu-wave remote also gives me control of the PS3 with the Harmony. Best investment so far! I plan to use this remote for a long time...
