The Rock - 1/8/08 - Blu-ray Forum

Anybody know any encoding information on this disc? I'm assuming that since it is from Buena Vista the video and audio will be top notch. Will it be the same as the encoding on the foreign release that already exists?

I believe the rock and con air are going to have mpeg-4 avc and at least PCM dont hold me to that, but judging by Disneys other releases that is a pretty safe bet, I have a TON of movies coming out that day(at least 5 mabye 7 not sure yet), cant wait, hopefully amazon ships them out all on time

I think almost all Disney releases in the past 6 months have been AVC/PCM encodes. Really looking forward to this one!

The UK releases that have been out for awhile are AVC/PCM. I'm 99% sure they'll use the exact same encode.

I imported the Rock and it looks good.

Specs attached. There you go. I doubt that the Bonus Specs will be in 1080p.

It's an older movie so I hope it looks good. 'Cause I hate spending the extra $10 for movies only to find that they don't look any better than their DVD versions. March of the Penguins is a perfect example. That was a big disappointment visually.

It's already available in Australia, but the Australian version is cut, although a couple of seconds only, but still cut.

- Scene where Connery throws knife at a Marine's head has been cut in Oz.

It will be REGION-FREE and UNCUT.

To people who think that it won't be a major upgrade from DVD -> Get ready to be proven wrong.

I own the german release for a while and I can assure you that it looks terrific!
You'll definately enjoy the disc in picture and sound!
