Remember hearing about a documentary about the making of Man on the Moon and the on-screen process of Jim Carrey becoming Andy Kaufman? Apparently it's finally gotten finished and is ready to be shown at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Offbeat documentarian, Chris Smith provides a behind-the-scenes look at how Jim Carrey adopted the persona of idiosyncratic comedian Andy Kaufman on the set of Man on the Moon.

"During the filming of Man on the Moon, Jim Carrey called Chris Smith to shoot the backstage of the show. The result was hours of movies that show how director Milos Forman had to face the complex personality of the protagonist."

Interesting! I wasn't aware of this being made, so it's a pleasant surprise. I'm a fan of Andy Kaufman, Jim Carrey is among my favorite actors and I thought the movie was perfect. Easily in my top 20 of all time. I was fascinated by it and everytime I see it, I love it more. So, yeah, I'm in for this. Also, I can't believe this movie is already 18 years old, as it still feels like a recent movie to me and it feels like yesterday I bought it on DVD on the day of release.
