I haven't been to my local store for a couple weeks, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if this a new Best Buy space saver.

Mine started to downsize and restructure the BD/DVD area. On asking a few different employees about this, they essential said it was a response to lack of sales which they attributed to online streaming. The emphasis seemed like it was on big hits, promotions and newer releases. I haven't really been in since as I would usually go in just for a new release and then pick up some other sale stuff while browsing, but the selection seemed pretty barebones.

Yep, I warned about this awhile back and it seems to be going company wide but some YMMV in places. Supposedly some places are getting more stuff where others are downsizing a lot.

I went to my local Best Buy yesterday and sometime since my last visit (about 2 weeks) they got rid of 2 racks of Blu-rays/DVDs. Now they're down to 4 racks of Blu-rays/DVDs.

It just happened around here and caught be my surprise. I was looking where the horror section used to be and then noticed all genre categories were removed. So it was just all blus, dvds, and 3D titles packed together alphabetically. It also looked like the amount of catalog titles were reduced by about half. It was so sad that they were using titles from the savestation display to help fill out the anorexic aisles.
