The Lickerish Quartet Blu-ray Review

Cult Epic's next release, Radley Metzger's Lickerish Quartet (1970), has received a preliminary release date: February 22.

Synopsis:

Quote:

A jaded, wealthy couple watch a blue movie in their castle home along with her adult son. The son is testy, so they go into town and watch a circus-like thrill ride. The daredevil woman in the show looks exactly like one of the women in the movie, so the man invites her to join them for a nightcap. Tensions among the family seem to rise. She stays overnight, and during her 24 hours in the castle, each of its three residents involves her in a fantasy. She, in turn, keeps asking, "Who has the gun?" Will there be violence before it's over?

Wonderful news, Pro-B. I have not gotten a chance to watch Score yet, but I'm nonetheless pleased to see more releases from Cult Epics happening.

I hope they are able to offer lossless audio on this release.

Also, I just read over at AV Maniacs that Video X Pix have acquired Metzger's "Henry Paris" hardcore films Barbara Broadcast, Naked Came the Stranger, The Opening of Misty Beethoven and The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann and plan to remaster them in High Definition and uncut, although there is no word on whether these titles will come to Blu-ray or not. I would be excited to see The Opening of Misty Beethoven myself, as I have heard good things about that one.

You guys on the front line, keep your powder dry until you hear from the scouts. The Metzger films licensed to Image Entertainment and released on DVD in the mid-'90s were all censored U.S. versions.

Has anyone else had problems with the disc?

Mine opens to the menu but then the movie won't play.

Not that I've heard of (and not mine)..it might be your copy, maybe you should contact where you bought it from?

The big problem is that I ordered it as part of the out of print box set and Amazon expects me to return the entire box set which they can't replace.

I might just have to order the single edition, swap them over, return the faulty one for a refund.

It's out of print?.... but amazon shows it as in-stock

I personally regret getting the boxed set...it doesn't include the extended versions of the films, and was rather expensive.. I actually did the same swap-out with the other films...bought the other editions and sold the ones from the set.

Watched this last night. Erika Remberg is using a body double for all the nudity outside of the stag film, right? You can see her face and chest together on the scratchy stag film, but any of the present tense scenes in color, it looks like there are cuts and a body double is used. I didn't notice it the first time watching, but watched it with the commentary last night and saw in the scene where Silvia Venturelli (the visitor) is seducing Erika Remberg (the mother), what looks like skin colored bandages on the side of the breasts of what is supposed to be Erika Remberg. Anyone else see this? You can see it in a few scenes on the couch and again when she stands up, but that scene is done with the face obscured.

Kind of a bummer, body doubles always take things down a notch for me.

I had the same problem described above with the blu ray. The main feature will not play. Extras will play.
