Default What movie will be a big money hit next summer?

Now I doubt any movie next summer will come close to TDK money next summer, but that doesnt mean its a failure if they go anywhere below. But next year has a bunch of good movies coming out.

I think Terminator Salvation will be pretty successful--not Dark Knight successful, but it will earn a few hundred mill, I predict.

My guess would be Transformers 2. The first one was god-awful, but there are a ton of geeks out there that like it for some reason...

Wolverine will be a home run hit, i predict $100+ opening weekend. And Terminator: Salvation should do about the same.

Transformers 2 will be huge regardless of its quality. I thorougly enjoyed the first but didn't really see a need for a sequel. I'm sure it'll be somewhat enjoyable nonetheless.

Im going to say Angels and Demons. I know that the Da Vinci code sucked but reguardless it still brought in over 700 mil worldwide, and anyone you ask thats read both books say they like Angels and Demons more. Not TDK $$$ but thats still a big chunk of change.

Truthfully i think many of these will gross really close to each other.

You really should have given the poll the option for multiple selections. I think that there's more than one movie that will be a big money hit next summer.

I think Transformers 2 will take the cake but I think The Watchmen could be nipping at its heels.

I don't know about that. I think Watchmen will do well but not what Transformers 2 will do, which should be in the 300+ million region.

Hannah Montana will do very well, especially if Miley ends up cancelling out on the TV show, people will want to catch what they can of it while they can. She is the current Disney juggernaut. I don't see it breaking records, but I see it holding it's own. Disney movies are always a guaranteed two ticket sell. Either a kid and parent, or two kids.

Terminator will do lackluster after Terminator 3, it won't bomb, but I will peg it around a 50-60M opening weekend, and either taking off on it's script or tanking out even more.

Transformers and GI Joe will do respectfully well, because we are it's target audience, we grew up on it, so we will give it a chance to see how faithful it is. Transformers 2 I think will do well because people want to see if they redeem it from the first one.

Wolverine is one of the strongest Marvel characters, so I know that one will do well, especially because Hugh Jackman always nails the part. Hopefully Marvel does a great job with the script.

Star Trek definately won't set any records, but I see all the die hard fans going to check out the reboot on the series. It will get very mixed reviews as everybody nitpicks it to death. It's hard to completely recast such a cult classic series. There was a huge debate about Picard vs. Kirk, now it will be even worse for Kirk vs. Kirk.

Finally Fast and the Furious 4. I see this sitting in a mediocre range, not bombing, but not holding out very well. It's mostly eye candy and flash with very little story, and if it's got a bad opening weekend, it will go nowhere.

they're not recasting star trek. the people playing in the new star trek are younger versions of the original cast.

Most excited about Star Trek and Wolverine, but Transformer 2 will do very well. However, my vote is for Wolverine.

Transformers 2 will by no means be the best movie out of all the ones you listed - but it will definitely be the one that gets the biggest box office.

Remember back to the first Shrek movie in 2001...a movie that did pretty darn good at the B.O. (Over $200 Million.) Remember how it had a lot of good will with kids and familys, and it made Shrek 2, make over $400 million when it came out over The Memorial Day weekend in 2004.

No matter what people think, Night at the Museum 2 is gonna do the same type of thing when it comes out over Memorial Day weekend 2009. This thing is gonna do a Shrek to Shrek 2 type of jump, ie, original made $200 million at B.O., the sequel is gonna do about $315 million at the Box Office. Just my prediction. It says nothing about the quality of the movie.

The movie on that list I want to see the most though is the March opening Watchmen.

I also think Transformers 2 would be the most successful. I think it's the "sexiest" title above the rest because of the name, special effects, and the actors and actresses invovled (ahem - Megan Fox). No doubt the special effects would be improved (that's scary) and I can't wait to see it on IMAX.
