I apologise to some of our older posters here, but what are your top 5 favourite films released in the year you were born?
The Killer (John Woo, 1989) Crimes and Misdemeanours (Woody Allen, 1989) When Harry Met Sally (Rob Reiner, 1989) Back to the Future Part II (Robert Zemeckis, 1989) Do The Right Thing (Spike Lee, 1989) ![]() |

1977? Well, my #1 movie is obvious. Kingdom of the Spiders.
Kidding. Honestly, I've barely even seen 5 movies from that year. Star Wars is definitely #1. I guess Saturday Night Fever, The Kentucky Fried Movie, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind(which I haven't seen since I was a kid, so I barely remember it) would complete my list. |

Annie Hall and 3 Women stand out. Some might say Suspiria and Eraserhead. |

I saw Annie Hall in the late 90's. Didn't care for it much, at least compared to other Woody Allen movies I'd already seen(by comparison, I loved Bananas). I tried watching Suspiria maybe 15 years ago and couldn't get into it at all after 20-30 minutes. I own the Criterion Eraserhead, but never got around to watching it.
