Default Monoprice HDMI Switcher

Just received my 5in/1out Monoprice switcher in the mail today. Seems there is no on/off switch so my question is will it be ok if I leave it on all the time? Won't really be convenient to unplug it and plug it back in everytime I use the TV/game console/etc. Anyone else leave it plugged in all the time? Will it be ok leaving it on? Does it eat up a lot of electricity?

as far as "eating" energy goes...you have nothing to worry about. I would leave it plugged in.

You do not have any thing to worry about. Also, if you have a Logitech remote, you can set it up with the remote to change auto when you change to a different source.

Merry Christmas.

Is this switcher HDCP compliant? I have an older monitor (Dell 2405) that I wouldnt mind hooking to a second PS3 via HDMI-DVI but cant as it isn't HDCP compliant. Would this bridge the gap?

if the Monitor is not HDCP compliant, it will never work.

Correct ^^^

I have had the 2405 and it will only accept HDCP on the Component side. Not the DVI side. Go figure

The current version, 2407HC will accept HDMI to DVI without any issue. I have two of these and used both on my ps3 no problems.

Default Good choice, I have something similar

I personally have an XtremeHD HDMI switch from XtremeMac. http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/av_ca...cher/index.php I picked mine up online for less than $79. . . it's a little spendyish depending on who you are but it's sure is sleek and does the job well! Would anyone else happen to have one of these?

I noticed that the port that my cable box is connected to turns red when I changed to another port. Is this normal? I tried changing the cable box HDMI cable to another port and it still turns red when it is changed.

Anyone else have this happen and what does the red light mean? My Xbox and PS3 doesn't turn red when switched to another port.

Ya thats normal ( when the red light comes on ), it means that was the last port used. I have 4 of the monoprice 5x1 switchers & they work perfect!

Don't know if its normal or not. I've switched ports and the red light never comes on except for the one the cable box is attached to. It seems that if the cable box port is not in use, it turns red. Once activated, it turns green again. Any suggestions?
