Default Flesh For Frankenstein (1973) Coming from VS

Vinegar Syndrome Posted this on Facebook Today:

We know this announcement is a bit unusual, but due to the plethora of rumors and misinformation currently circulating online, we felt we should put all the conspiracies to bed and formally confirm that YES, we are going to release FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN in Real 3D & 4K UHD, under exclusive, worldwide, license from its director and copyright holder, Paul Morrissey.

Our release, which has been newly scanned in 4K from the original, 35mm over-under, Stereoscopic camera negative (which has never been accessed for any other home video edition) is being restored by the 3-D Film Archive and looks absolutely stunning. It will be released later this year.

YES! One of my favorites, and one of the greatest horror comedies ever made! Can't wait for this and BLOOD FOR DRACULA.

Didn't a previous thread go over this particular film and reasons why a 3D release would be outrageously difficult? Maybe it was even Furmanek that posted about it? Something like, it was just filmed incorrectly, and they'd have to go back and re-align the image severely to make the L/R images resolve correctly, and the director angrily responded that he wasn't changing it cause that was how it always was?

Maybe it was all a dream!

Beautiful. That means VS probably helped Severin with the Blood for Dracula scan.
I wonder if VS also has the Flesh/Trash/Heat trilogy?

Interesting. So this over/under format should look no worse than Techniscope, and not the soft mess of stuff like Amityville 3D?

It’s all true, for I read the same post way back when. Bob must have finally been able to talk some sense into the guy.

Wasn’t the vertical alignment fixable and the horizontal not or some such?

Correcting vertical alignment is imperative to a good 3D experience. If that was an issue with the film and you could only fix one thing with it, that would be it. Otherwise, you'll be getting a headache and eye strain very quickly. Have you ever tried looking up with one eye while looking down with the other?
The eyes can compensate horizontally, but when it comes to vertically misaligned frames, the eyes don't have much tolerance for that.

Some issues might be "baked in" but for the most part they should be able to correct any alignment issues if it was filmed correctly. I'm sure Bob from the 3DFA has plenty to say about it and is more knowledgeable about any issues with FFF.

Here's the thread I was thinking of.

When I suggested we would at least fix the vertical alignment shot by shot, Morrissey became very angry and said, "That's the way I shot it!"

When he later suggested we should do the work for free, I knew it was time to end the conversation.
I'm guessing that something changed with the latter, but I'm curious how the "unfixable" stuff will be! Maybe the movie will just make anyone who watches it in 3D want to rip their eyes out.

Eh, he still could have photographed most of it even if he got thrown off the set a few times! Maybe the terrible shots are rare and were the ones done when he wasn't there.

Vinegar Syndrome just announced it as a November title. Very excited for this—it's nice to see it (along with Blood for Dracula) get a proper reissue. Those Criterion DVDs were overpriced collector's items for far too long.

Excited that it finally been announced. Price is way too expensive and I can't afford it so I'll have to wait until the actual Black Friday to get it at (hopefully) a cheaper price than what it's going for right now. I never bought from VS btw so I'm still relatively new to everything with how VS works.
