Default Best streamer for Netflix and Vudu

I'm right now using my XBox One for Netflix and Vudu, but sometimes Vudu stops playing a movie with a loading screen and kicks out back to the XBox One Home's screen a few seconds later. Yesterday I experience one second of stuttering with Netflix on my XBox One. I'm using a wired ethernet connection and a 45 Mb/s downstream internet plan. I use to own a Roku Ultra but sometimes it would make chirping sounds (firmware issue from what I read) in Netflix and Vudu and sometimes Vudu would rebuffer a movie a few seconds after starting playing a movie on the Roku Ultra. I also tried a Sony BDP-S6700 blu-ray player but one time I got a wavy blurry image a few seconds after playing a movie in Vudu that lasted about 2 seconds. It looked like seeing a reflection from a lake as the best I can describe it. The Vudu app on my TV quits on me frequently and the Netflix app on my TV has a hard time getting 1080p during streaming and usually doesn't go over 720p. I also tried a Sony BDP-S3700 blu-ray player and it had a hard time getting a 1080p signal whereas the BDP-S6700 hit full bitrate 1080p in Netflix streaming wihin 50 seconds or so and felt more responsive. Apple TV does not have a Vudu app. FireTV does not have a Vudu app. Using Vudu and Netflix on my PC is too clunky and not remote compatible with those apps. Would a PS4 be a good option for Netflix and Vudu?

I never have a problem streaming anything from anything. for streaming, I use either my oppo 105, appletv or my newest addition the Roku Ultra 4K/HDR.

I have a gigabit wired Ethernet setup and every device I have that has Ethernet is wired I have the same 50mbps plan that you have with cable and no problems with anything dropping out, ever.

no chirping sounds from my Roku Ultra (the newest model) watched plenty of movies on it and tons of streaming of lots of things.

I'm thinking you might have a problem with your ISP or your modem/router and not all of your devices you mentioned connected to it. have you checked with them about this? I mean, what's more likely, everything you own for streaming have failed or your ISP is the issue?

best of luck, keep us posted.

I've never had an issue with streaming via PS4. Realistically the Apple TV ca stream anything with AirPlay... so it can do Vudu just fine. Also, my Apple TV seems to buffer less than my PS4, but that might just be my experience.

PS3 has always been solid for me. I hear PS4 is solid as well.

I think the Xbox one S and PS4 pro will do both of those in 4k and HDR if thats important to you. Dolby Vision (if your TV supports that) doesn't come from any streamers yet only TV's built in apps I think.

I mainly use my Roku Premiere+ for both, unless its something presented in Dolby Vision then i just use the apps on my LG TV.

It has to be your connection. I mean you've tried so many different streaming devices, that should rule them out as causing the problem. Check your ISP, I'll bet that's where the problem is.

agreed, that's what I told him earlier. I see too many people recommending he try this device and that device and I'm thinking they are not reading his post all the way through. based on what he said, he's clearly experiencing a throughput issue from his ISP or if he provided his router then it's that. something is not giving him the sustained throughput he needs to not have the issues he's having with multiple streaming devices.

I mean it should be obvious, but sometimes the obvious choice is overlooked. He's tried many streaming devices, so there's only one thing left. If you don't have a solid connection, the best streaming device in the world isn't going to help.
