Since there is one about the Ghibli films, I thought to start this thread about these exceptional films that I love too, and now that the Ghibli Studio is closing (?) it seems our only chance (well, mine at least) of getting realistic stories with high techinical standards is Makoto Shinkai..
I wanted to ask, has anyone compared the different Bluray editions (US/UK/Japan) in their technical characteristics?
Are they identical?
Which edition is the best to buy?
(although I see some Japan editions don't have English subtitles)
i would love if these films got a similar to the silhouette-Ghibli-series treatment, in special edition Blurays with common characteristics covers/cases.

Voices of a Distant Star and She and her Cat are both very good.
Plus, it's also nice to have the interview with him that includes subtitles.

The extras for Children Who Chase Lost Voices have no English subs on either of the discs in the set. I mainly got the Limited Edition because I like the packaging and I knew the AQ/PQ would be top-notch. The art book, comics, and film strip are cool collector's items.

Been dying to watch 5CM and Place Promised in Our Early Days. Wasn't a huge fan of Garden of Words (or Voices of a Distant Star actually), but can see the appeal. Would be cool if we got NA releases for all.
They been delayed just recently so not sure if they have a new date. At first it was going to be 1-2 movies but now I think they want to release them all.

But the US version of Garden of words shows 4 identical English tracks and no Japanese one. Is this right?

the BD info says it has only a Japanese track, LPCM 2.0, but the specs here in the site mention a 5.1 too!
So, is the bluray.com info wrong?'
And what about that 1080i in both editions? i thought it was 1080p!

Doh! Sorry, I grabbed the info from the first playlist in each BDInfo report, assuming they were for the main feature on each disk, but they were for the behind the scenes materials. I've updated my post with the correct info (and this time double-checked that the playlists were for the film itself).
