Momentum (2015), Olga Kurylenko, James Purefoy, Fun Popcorn Movie

While this movie was universally panned by critics, even Blu-ray.com reviewer slammed the movie, I found this movie to be quite clever and very enjoyable. Alex Farraday (Olga Kurylenko) gets involved in a bank heist and something goes wrong. While trying to get to the bottom of why Mr. Washington (James Purefoy) is after her, they begin a cat and mouse game through the entire movie which is nothing more than a fast-paced, action movie with a lot of violence.

Olga Kurylenko is pretty kick-ass through the movie and the scene where she sets off a bomb as Purefoy's accomplice retrieves the package, she smiles wickedly and says "I had to let you catch me otherwise none of this would have worked" is perhaps one of the most inventful scenes of the whole movie, if not in any film. It's a memorable scene especially when James Purefoy replies "Oh, you magnificent b***" while smiling back at her as he does.

While not one of the best films out there, the pacing of the movie is very fast, action packed and frenzied that it manages to keep your interest. It's a popcorn movie. There are other such movies like this such as "Shoot 'Em Up" and "Bounty Killer". These are the types of movies that will never draw in the big crowds but they are fun movies to watch. While the movie was set up for a sequel, Morgan Freeman in a limited cameo where he plots to set off a bomb in the United States in order to become President of the United States, the sequel will never be made because of the poor box office performance.

Still, one of the more memorable popcorn movies out there, and there are more pathetic popcorn movies out there that are worse than this. But, this was still a fun movie to watch.
