Default You know those conversations...

The ones where all you can do is just smile and nod...
I was at Blockbuster and someone spotted me in the Hi Def section. Well he wanted to talk about typical HD talk (what player I have, format war, etc.) and he said he has a PS3 too, and he "claims" to have rigged it so that the drive will play HD DVD movies as well as Blu Rays. I asked how he did it, and he told me he has a friend that is really into computers, and he fixed it up for him.

Well, as far as I know this cannot (and should not) be done. Anyhoo, all I could do is just smile and nod.

I have met and talked to those types before, albeit very briefly and never about the format war. Just a clown wanting to impress.

You can rig your original Xbox to play PS1, N64, SNES, NES, Genesis and Atari games. I've done it before.

It can be done... just use your PC to rip the HD-DVD and burn it onto a BD-R... and presto, you can play an HD-DVD on your PS3.

The PS3 can play HD DVD Combos*

* Note: You may need to boil the disc first. Not sure if that will help them play in the PS3 but it apparently has worked on occasion in Toshita players.
