A couple of shockers in this film. One of them is Isabel Sanford (Louise Jefferson on The Jeffersons) as a hooker. The other is a spoiler.

One of George C. Scott's very best performances.

Excellent movie I haven't seen it in years. I agree with Hoke one of George C. Scott's best.

I’ll agree with the preceding posts; when the best performances of Scott are discussed, this is rarely ranked and absolutely should be. This is an extremely good police drama based on Joseph Wambaugh’s bestseller, a hard hitter once seen not forgotten. The author saw much of his work represented on the big and small screens for years after. The UK disc is superb and this edition will surely be as well.

After seeing PETULIA in '68, my mother had a thing for Scott, so when I was a kid, from PATTON to ISLANDS IN A STREAM, I got taken to every George C. Scott movie whether I wanted to or not (and I usually wanted to).

I haven't seen this movie since it first came out -- when I was twelve -- and when it was first on TV. Still, I'd rather not pay $29.95 for it on Blu-ray, so I'll wait for a sale.

Now, when is OKLAHOMA CRUDE coming to BD?

I need this release for the commentary tracks for sure.

Great film. Nice gritty 70’s police drama wonderful performances throughout. Its all you really need to know going into the film. Try to avoid all spoilers.

Really awesome flick, great performances by Scott, Keach, and Jane Alexander, really the whole cast, and a great story as well. I picked up the Indicator version and it look great and has a really good supplement doc.

Picked this one up as a blind buy for $14.95 during SAE/TT's recent sale and so glad I did. What a great film! Man, I miss the 1970s style filmmaking. Everyone in this looks like a real person. The men look like the kind of men you'd see on a police force and the women are your average, non-starlet women. It looks and feels real.

WTF happened? Even back in the '90s I'd go to the movies twice a week. Now I may go once every couple months. The industry has truly tanked. If you've never seen The New Centurions, do yourself a favor and pick it up. I think you'll really appreciate this effort if you're a true film lover and not just someone who likes to see video games on a big screen featuring characters in capes with special powers. This is what filmmaking should be all about.

Perhaps, but when you see films that look and feel real and with which you can relate, it's hard not to become passionate in your response. I was born in 1979 so it's not like I was seeing films like The New Centurions or Mean Streets in theaters but those are so much more relatable from a basic human standpoint than most films today. The films of that era seemed to reflect reality and most (not all) films today seem to attempt to dictate to us how "reality" should be.

How do people feel this compares to Indicator's release of the same film. Are the transfer, and extras similar?
