Default Steins Gate

Just binge watched this over the last two days after receiving it in the mail.

Fantastic show. It really puts you on an emotional rollercoaster. Not quite sure how I missed this one years ago.

Give the visual novel a try. It's available on PC, PS3 and PS Vita. In my opinion the anime adaptation can't hold a candle to the visual novel.

Went to FYE the other day to look at anime and was going to purchase Steins Gate. Found it on the shelf, looked at the sticker price of $50 and set it back down. I'll be ordering my copy online I suppose. I do much prefer to buy my blurays in store so that I can inspect the slips and hear if the discs are loose inside etc, but I can't justify an extra $20.

Might have been able to price-match. Don't know since i've never been to FYE since there are not any locations in my area. But it's something to think about when going to these physical retail stores.

The first episode or two were a little confusing but it quickly became one of my all-time favorites. It's such an amazing journey I wish I could experience it again for the first time.

Would be nice if a better Blu-Ray release was done of the show...the Funimation release has some of the worst color banding offensiveness I've ever seen in an anime release. Still, I really did like the show.

I've tried to price match there but they don't do it. FYE won't even match their own online price in store which boggles my mind. The manager there told me that online prices were a little lower because of shipping fees that they charge. Wether that's true or not I don't know. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered off of walmarts site for $35.

I gave up on waiting for a U.S. issue of the movie and purchased the Japanese version - but after several viewings of the original series I'm so used to the English dub that I couldn't enjoy watching the movie in Japanese. I'll double dip for sure if it's dubbed into English and released over here.

I wanted to buy the original series for my brother for Christmas, but every time I checked Amazon was out of stock.

How does the movie tie in and is it essential to the storyline? Sorry i haven't seen the series yet so if you can keep it spoiler free I'd really appreciate it

It's more or less a sequel, detailing a story based after the end of the series. However if I recall it's pretty self-contained, you could easily watch the series without it as I don't remember it shedding any light on the content of the original series. But it was a nice movie.

Not sure what you guys are talking about. They already reissued the series in one box:

http://www.amazon.com/Steins-Gate-Co...stein%27s+gate

It's the movie that hasn't been dubbed / released in the States.

I presume that's the one I have - Vol. 1 in a box, which you can use for Vol. 2 as well.

From what I've seen, the companies release these expensive "limited edition" sets, then re-release the entire series in one package for much less down the line. Has there ever been an instance where they go back and re-issue the original "limited" version?
