Default Spacecamp 30th Anniversary in 2016?

I really love this film.
It was one of my most viewed VHS (recorded from TV) in my childhood!
Also it has an excellent John Williams score, and an isolated score to a possible Bluray release would be a dream come true!

Anyone that loves this film?
I have been waiting for it, but now that I think of it, I hope they release a Bluray on its 30th anniversary in 2016.
Maybe that' why they're holding off.

I saw this headline and freaked out. I got so excited. *sigh*

I don't even know who owns the rights to it anymore

I know. It just showed up as a headline when I was looking at the list of forums so I didn't know it was here.

Luckily, I got an HD cap of it from HDNET movies a year or two ago so it will hold me off.

Here's a discussion about the film with its creators, in case anyone would be interested:

I just learned that Disney has the rights for Spacecamp!

That's really disappointing news!
I believe now we won't see a bluray of it. Or if we do, it would be a Disney exclusive.

Yeah, they own via ABC. Who knows what is to become of that library. One scenario is that since ABC has a deal with Lionsgate, perhaps they could try them.

I hope so!

I just showed it to my niece and nephews the night before we made a trip to Kennedy Space Center.

It's really the only all-ages movie that celebrates the Space Shuttle like this.

I would buy SpaceCamp on Blu-ray, day one.

Another childhood favorite of mine. I was OBSESSED with the Space Shuttle. This movie is probably also why I love sunsets (the shots of them watching it in space got me the same reaction as the actors during that scene). I still listen to the soundtrack.

Man, when I was a kid, the perfect Saturday was me in front of the tv with snacks and watching the following:

Space Camp
Flight of the Navigator
Top Gun

See a pattern here?

Saw a HDTV master for this - can't say where, but it looks very, very nice

I'd be thrilled if they just slapped that on a BD disc tbh, it's more than sufficient for a catalogue title of its stature.

I assume it's the HDNET transfer from 2011.

It is. I didn't even know it existed. I thought it looked pretty pleasing. If only they'd commit it to disc!

Well, i've seen screenshots of this and while it's pleasing, it's not what i would like for this film that I love too much!.
I would love a stellar transfer, something like thre best Arrow Blurays perhaps.

Yeah I had someone capture it for me back then. I didn't even know a torrent existed.

Well I'd love that too, a top notch transfer with a wealth of extras.

Unfortunately that just isn't going to happen. At best I think we'd get this master slapped on a disc with perhaps the trailer.

From memory I don't think the DVD has ever had any real extras and it's unlikely that they'd create new ones now.
