Finally going HDTV / BD - Blu-ray Forum

Well , thanks to the Futureshop boxing day specials I am finally get my TV . I have a 23' LG in my bedroom now (23lc1rb) and I ordered a Sharp Aquos 1080p 42" LCD (LC42D72U) , Sharp Blu-ray Disc Player (BD-HP20U) , Sanus LG Flat Panel TV Wall Mount (VMPL2S-03) and a Logitech Z5500 THX certified audio set . Also Picked up in store Spiderman trilogy , Ice Age2 and Happy Feet Blu-ray discs . Now I have to wait for shipping to get my stuff .

Enjoy the TV and blu - It really is amazing... I almost jumped on a couple of deals from FS, but decided that I didn't need another HDTV right now

Welcome to the winning team.

When you set up your system, remember to post any questions to this site.

The first thing that comes to mind is that you may want to update to the latest firmware. A friend of mine bought a PS/3 in November and he had version 1.5 firmware.

I think you need at least version 1.8 to do DVD upscaling. The latest firmware (2.10) adds support for Picture-in-Picture I think.

Thanks guys for the welcome - there will be question following . The player , I assume , has a newer firmware as it states in the specs that it is upconverting DVD to 1080p when hooked up to a 1080p HDTV . And I'm not sure if it makes a difference but it is HDMI ver. 1.3 and 1080P/24Hz. But I can't see much info on the D72 series Aquos , most info is the D64 . I'm told the D72 has a 4ms response and higher contrast then the D64 .

I just got in on the act as well. I got a PS3 and a Samsung 5687 1080p DLP television. I also got a whole slew of Blu-Rays for Christmas.
