This film shares similarities with the 1986 Johnny Depp flick Private Resort, which I prefer over Flamingo Kid but still enjoy both very much. Definite purchase.

Wow, probably haven't seen this one since it's release in the mid-80's. I don't think the comparisons to Private Resort are apt though; aside from similar settings, Flamingo is a dramatic coming-of-age flick with some humor and Private Resort is a straight-up teen sex comedy of the kind that were ubiquitous in the 80's.

Still...who was the bigger stud back in the day, Matt Dillon or Johnny Depp?

In the 80’s, Matt Dillon. The 90’s belonged to Johnny. Anyways, Watched this movie yesterday for the 1st time in decades. It wasn’t quite the same tone wise as I remember. I thought it had more comedy involved but I still enjoyed it. Picked it up on that KL sale last week. I can’t decide if I’m gonna keep it or not at this time. Time will tell.
