Hi all, I'm a huge fan of the Robocop movies from 1987, 1990 and 1993.
It's clear that there are a lot of metaphors and hidden messages with the Robocop movies. I was watching this analysis of Star Wars and I'd love to watch something similar about Robocop: Be great if someone could post a link! |

This is probably (okay, is) old news but Paul Verhoeven has mentioned that RoboCop is allegorical of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Clarence Boddicker and his gang are obviously representative of the Romans that crucified Christ while Alex Murphy's transition into RoboCop is meant to be the time inbetween the death and resurrection.
I'm not sure who Judas would be. Maybe Bob Morton, RoboCop's creator? Maybe Dick Jones, as Morton's simply a figurehead for Dick (Clarence just works for Dick Jones)? The Old Man is God, of course, while Anne Lewis could be seen as Mary Magdalene. The film's screenwriters meanwhile intended the film as a criticism of fascism and 1980's excess (the latter gets magnified by Verhoeven's penchant for satire and explicit violence). When you think about it, RoboCop might be the most allegorical film of the 80's. |

Do you have a video where Verhoeven talks about this? |
