I plan on buying it, but I will wait for a confirmation. I don't want to go through the hassle.

Have you been hibernating all this time then?

It was released with a 1080i picture not a 1080p, so this is a fixed re-release.

Actually the previous version WAS 1080i, the only way to watch it in 1080p was with the PiP feature turned on. I believe this one was supposed to be a fixed update to where it will play in 1080p without using that feature.

That's what I remember reading, using PIP was the only way to get 1080p.

no ones given me a straight answer yet i was hoping someone may have bought the version released today and tried it.For anyone who has bought it without knowing what i mean can you check to see if its 1080P while playing the film and not 1080i because the film was 1080i on the 1st release.

Someone got confused here. PotC:AWE was printed as 1080i but was really 1080p. T3 was both 1080i and 1080p... the PiP was 1080p and the movie itself only 1080i.
I hope to hear a confirmation on this soon, I want to get that title but not in 1080i.

....it's like 8 in the frikkin' morning. You do know people have to work and don't really want to roll out of bed for a movie that's been out 15 years.

If you are purple, get the HD-DVD, it's pure 1080p all the way. If you aren't, I suggest you wait a bit, someone is bound to tell us how to differentiate the re-release from the original faulty one.

Get the HD-DVD? Purple? Have you been in a cave? HD-DVD is DEAD! You might as well be telling someone to go buy the Laser Disc version...but that's ok, you go ahead and keep an extra player on your shelf...right next to your betamax player.

There will probably be a trade in program put in place eventually for people that have the old version.

Best buy is not open here yet, but I do plan on getting this title (if they actually get it in their stores). It's open in an hour, I'll go to the store and make them open a copy and play it for me before I buy it. Post response here if no one has confirmed by then
