Mono in atmos!
And since it's Sony we won't get the original track!
May stick with the indicator on this one.

They put the original mix on Starship Troopers, they need to do the same with all their releases especially this as it's short and there won't be space issues.

The announcement does not say if its a new 4k scan?
Does that mean the scan they did for the BDs was in 4k?
I love this movie, my fav Carptenter flick after Halloween and Thing.
As its Sony it should not be a upscale of the BD hopefully.

Based on the Novel by Stephen King

CHRISTINE

Director John Carpenter’s Iconic Horror Classic Turns 35
Debuts on 4K Ultra HD™ September 11

CULVER CITY, Calif. (June 8, 2018) – The scare factor in John Carpenter’s (Halloween, The Thing) terrifying classic CHRISTINE revs up even higher when it debuts for the first time on next-generation 4K Ultra HD on September 11 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Celebrating its 35th Anniversary, CHRISTINE follows a sentient and violent vintage Plymouth Fury and its effect on the car’s new teenage owner. The film stars Keith Gordon (The Legend of Billie Jean, Back to School), John Stockwell (Into the Blue, Top Gun), Alexandra Paul (“Baywatch,” Piranha) and Harry Dean Stanton (Alien). In addition, the film will also debut in 4K via participating digital platforms.

CHRISTINE is presented in 4K resolution and includes newly-remixed Dolby Atmos audio – perfect for this dynamic and impactful film. 4K Ultra HD features four times the resolution of high definition, high dynamic range (HDR)–which produces brilliant highlights, vibrant colors and greater contrast on compatible displays–and Dolby Atmos audio, remixed specifically for the home theater environment, delivering captivating sound that places and moves audio anywhere in the room, including overhead.

Synopsis:

John Carpenter brings Stephen King’s best-selling novel to life in this chilling thriller. She was born in Detroit … on an automobile assembly line. But she is no ordinary automobile. Deep within her chassis lives an unholy presence. She is CHRISTINE – a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury whose unique standard equipment includes an evil, indestructible vengeance that will destroy anyone in her way. She seduces 17-year-old Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon), who becomes consumed with passion for her sleek, rounded chrome-laden body. She demands his complete and unquestioned devotion and when outsiders seek to interfere, they become the victims of Christine’s horrifying wrath.

CHRISTINE 4K Ultra HD:

Feature film in 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Dolby Atmos soundtrack (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 compatible)*
Also includes the film on high-def Blu-ray

CHRISTINE Bonus Materials on Blu-ray Include:

Deleted Scenes
Commentary with Director John Carpenter and Keith Gordon
Three Featurettes:
“Christine: Ignition”
“Christine: Fast and Furious”
“Christine: Finish Line”

CHRISTINE has a run time of approximately 110 minutes and is rated R.

* To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar; however, Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.

Well, I said that I'd be wary of the UHD of Aliens being an improvement because that's from Fox, but where Sony and 35mm are concerned: Day. Mother-loving. One.

(And I can swap out the Sony BD for the Indicator )

Geoff, you should go there. Make sure they're doing it the right way. This must be UHD golden goodness. I want to cry tears of joy at how great this looks. You can do it!

Holy crap... never thought that would happen. It opens the doors for other horror catalogue titles to get 4K releases. Very exciting stuff . Day 1 for me as well.

I'll do a hundred triple-dips for Sony, especially for one of Carpenter's top 5, subjectively of course, if you prefer.

Just waiting for The Thing in 4K. Even if it does come from the red-headed step child of UHD format Universal. This should be a good holdover however.

Not a fan of this movie so I'll pass but The Thing would be a day one buy.

Thing would be Shout for the US and Arrow for U.K. Shout would have to make
A new master since the bd is from 2k scan.

Nope.
It would be Universal and they would use the Arrow 4k master.
And they are too cheap to make a new one and not stupid enough to use the shout.

Oh my...this is awesome. Same day announcement as the new Halloween trailer? Marketing at its finest and oh boy does it work....boy does it work.

I have the Indicator release, but if the 4K looks as good as I think it will...I'm there, baby.
