IMDb lists the UK version as cut, in the alternate versions section. I'm guessing it refers to a VHS release, since I don't think it was released on DVD over there?

I caught up with this not so long ago when I was trawling through genre stuff I'd missed first time around when I was in my prime for this sort of thing (along with The Nest and some others of that ilk).

It's not aged well. Tom Burman's FX are still cool, but the rest is a bit of a melodramatic trudge. As a bit of trivia, the star of this Paul Clemens sued Spielberg and co. over claims they ripped off a script of his and retooled it as Poltergeist. It got settled out of court.

Does anyone know how long this will be on sale at Arrow's website? I'd consider double-dipping but would like to wait until extras are announced.

They said on Facebook that the special price on Koyaanisqatsi will be there until Feb 28th and the one on The 'Burbs until April 30th, so each time, it ends about 2 months before the release date.

The Beast Within is scheduled for beginning of May, so I guess the special price will run until beginning of March.

I asked Arrow about the precise end of these prices. I'll update here and on the main Arrow topic if I get an answer.

bbfc cuts were

[Show spoiler]The BBFC cuts were:

The opening & closing rape scenes are missing glimpses of the women's breasts and of bloodied bodies
Michael's (Paul Clemens) attack on Edwin (Logan Ramsey) is missing the shot of the killer quivering as he gnaws into the victim's throat.
A shot of Edwin's mangled body is missing when it is discovered by the Judge (Don Gordon).
Michael snarls at the camera with a bloodied mouth during a flashback that is missing.
Eventually the Judge gets his head ripped off but we don't get to see the blood pouring out nor the head rolling off the neck stump.

I compiled them all from the Twitter announcements and they're all in main Arrow thread now.

There are quite a lot of bladder-heavy FX once you get there, which are more on the wacky end of the scale rather than gory, but it takes an awfully long time to get there, it's got quite a slow pace. Has Philippe Mora ever directed a decent film? I have a soft spot for The Return of Captain Invincible but other than that...

There's a spectacular
[Show spoiler]ripping off of someone's head
near the end which is a great bit of gore.

I really like this film, but the new cover is hideous. I'll stick with the Scream Blu-ray regardless.

i guess the monster and gore are reserved for the final moments of the film?
