Default MCU here for 10 more years even after Infinity War

In a surprising (but wonderful) move, James Gunn announced that he would be returning to both write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn just loves working with Marvel and he especially loves these characters, and in a post on Facebook, he made it clear just how excited he was to continue this relationship. It's truly awesome news, especially once you realize how rare it is for a director -- especially in the MCU -- to stick with it for an entire trilogy. In the Facebook post, Gunn offered a little tease as to what fans can expect from the Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel over the next 10 years:

Much of what's happened in the MCU for the past ten or so years has been leading, in a big way, to the Avengers' Infinity War. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will happen after all that. It will conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.

You mean the MCU won't stop just because it's done telling the Thanos arc? They're gonna keep this highly lucrative franchise going for another decade? Wow, did NOT see that coming...

The CB movies won't last 10 more years. It is already burning out by overexposure.

I can only speak for myself, but I think I'll pretty much be done after Infinity War. Things have to come to a natural close, you keep running the motor you'll eventually kill the battery.

I think we have a better chance of seeing a Avengers vs. Squadron Supreme.

After Thanos causes irreversible damage to the Avengers by breaking Hawkeye's pinky finger and giving Spider-Man a wedgie, I don't know how any of them can keep on going after that.

Pretty much same with me. I'll probably still watch them but my finish line was made with Infinity War. Anything beyond that is just optional stories to me.

So what exactly is the plan after Infinity War other than Guardians vol. 3? I guess we'll probably get sequels to some of the newer characters like Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel. Spider-Man could stretch out over the years. What else? Any solo films of new characters? What happens with guys like Captain America and Iron Man.

This is why I'm hoping for Marvel to get the film rights back to the Fantastic Four. A perfect follow up to Thanos is Galactus!
