Default Upscaled DVDs

It seems to me that wherever I go, I always hear about upscaled DVDs and how much better they look than their "original counterpart. Well, I have both upscaling DVD players and the PS3, but whenever I put a DVD in, it does not seem like as if its any better. Is it really that noticeable compared to their original audio/video? Does it have to do with the bitrates or something? Thanks.

When you use an upscaling DVD player, you player does the upscaling. When using a regular DVD player, your TV does the upscaling. Depending on how well your TV upscales, you might not get any benefit from using an external scaler - and your pictures might even get worse.

Noticed you are from Jax - just moved from there about a year ago to CO. Sure am missing the FL weather right now...
