By now, each and every one of us has gone to a movie that has massively flopped. But has there ever been one that despite being a flop, had a huge crowd of people in your showing?
For me it was Prince of Persia Stealth The Sorcerer's Apprentice Stealth is actually the biggest example for me because it had sold out that particular showing. |

Surprisingly, I've had quite a few instances of this happening. I think it tends to happen to box office bombs that flopped not because nobody went, but simply not enough to make up for their massive budgets. Star Trek Beyond and TMNT: Out of the Shadows both flopped during the summer of 2016 but my showings were jam-packed.

They weren't quite sold out crowds but off the top of my head I remember The Shadow, The Phantom, Waterworld (both showings I went to), The A-Team, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Solo: A Star Wars Story all had jam-packed crowds.

The IMAX screening of Blade Runner 2049 was packed, which is probably the biggest screen with a full audience I've been to. The rest have been smaller screens, Mortal Engines was pretty busy, The BFG was another one but that was huge in the UK.
But by far the best one was the cheap night screening of Cure For Wellness I went to, which was practically full of people not prepared for what they were getting into. ![]() |

The third time I saw Army of Darkness was the first weekend it was at the $1 theaters in my hometown. It was a Sunday afternoon, the theater was packed, and the laughs and cheers were frequent and LOUD. I shared this with Bruce Campbell when I first met him, and he was thrilled!

The midnight screening I went to for Green Lantern was PACKED.
EDIT: and I remember Cowboys & Aliens' midnight screening also being pretty full. Yes, I saw that movie at midnight. No, I had nothing better to do. Last edited by imsounoriginal; 05-24-2019 at 07:04 PM. |

I saw NATURAL BORN KILLERS in Bay City, MI on a sold out opening night. Mighta been classified a bomb, but it was great, the crowd was dumbfounded and quiet (except for me cracking up), and most of them probably wished they’d picked another movie to see. Great time for me though.
