Anyone else in this category? Just hoping for a great A/V transfer only?

I don't care about 3D, but everything else is important to me especially the A/V transfer.

count me in this count. I loathe slipcovers not because they themselves are bad but because it's turned this forum into a non-stop slipcover hunt and "if it doesn't come with the slipcover it's worthless!!!" mentality in the trade thread

That's the main thing that caught my attention, because it generally means a better A/V transfer. I deliberately left bonus stuff out of the question, because that's more ambivalent.

I used to not be. After buying many steelbooks and seeing how one got damaged just by sitting on my shelf and was delicately moved around to accommodate new purchases, I simply said "screw them." They are cheaply made and only have valuable status due to the market. Oh, they look nice, don't get me wrong, but the ease of dinging and scratching them makes the price unjustifiale.

You mean you hate that people have fun collecting Blu-rays?

For the longest time there was one thread in this forum dedicated to slipcovers. There are thousands of threads on everything else under the sun, including A/V. In fact, I think we got A/V covered for most titles! I don't see a problem here??

Sadly, many of the threads dedicated to AV turn into verbal brawls over DNR, EE, the screen someone is using, or a first release being better than a second release.

Give me non-dented steelbook and slipcover who-has-it discussion any day of the week over the A/V arguments.

That why I don't really collect them. Too much hassle between dents and Canada shipping/costs. Doesn't mean others shouldn't be able to discus them though.

I wish we could go back before the days of the internet, when complainers were taken care of the old fashioned way.

I love collecting blu-rays, but for the movies contained there in, not the packaging it's contained in. This is not meant to be a slight against people who are into packaging, just a place for people who are not into that, or 3D, to talk.

I love my 1500+ movies too, so I can talk here also.

You can count me in. I prefer standard sized cases and just the film. Now, I DO appreciate the directors cuts or extended cuts being included where applicable. 3D is worthless. Digital copies are worthless. Most of the fluff is worthless.

That's the way I see it.

I sure am. I want the movie with the best A/V possible and that's all. I don't give a damn about extra features, slipcovers, 3D, digibooks, steelbooks, dvds, digital copies, collector's versions, etc.

Call me weird, but I love slips and hate steels. With the exception of a select few SB and SB-like releases, I just don't see the reasoning behind them. They get damaged much easier than a slip, and I'd hate to be so delicate with something that's meant to be handled and watched. I'm "careful" with my slips, but not to the point where I don't enjoy the BD.

Of course the A/V is most important, but if packaging wasn't important, they'd be selling the discs only

Oh and 3D? Yeah, is that thing dead yet?

I think it's silly when you check the recent haul thread and people buy the same movie 2 or 3 times for slipcovers 'n stuff.
