Call Of Duty 4 Multiplayer issue

Im haveing a problem logging into cod4. when i try to play multiplayer my rank and name show up fine but when i go to search for a match or get a invite from a friend the screen gets stuck on downloading game settings for about 5 mins before i can login. anyone else have this problem or a solution to it thanks

First of all let me just say hi

I would reccommend you check your internet connection speed as it may not be at your normal speed at which your able to play at, if that is fine, when you first click online play, let your rank & clan tag load fully & if there's a DL settings message, let it disappear, then just wait for 5 seconds before clicking anything

connection is 100 percent and when i try to play war hawk it works perfectly

The solution is pretty simple. Start up the game, wait about 5 seconds before going to the multiplayer menu. Go into the multiplayer menu, and wait another 5 seconds before clicking Play Online. This way you won't get the Downloading Game Settings pop up.

it happens to me sometimes too and i was wondering the same thing... to be honest... i think it has something to do iwth the network... but i might be way... WAY off

wait seriously i had same thing wait like 10 minutes for it to download it will happen ever time u progress in the game or change an option also id advice not to be downloading stuff while playing online just from experience

It is not your connection, or the PSN, it's IW's servers are way overloaded. But don't expect the issue to be solved anytime soon. IW is not responding to the numerous posts about the downloading settings and connection problems on http://www.charlieoscardelta.com COD4 official forums.

When I get the "downloading settings" I just log off, play a bit of single player or Warhawk, and try again later.

Weird thing is a couple days ago, my roommate (Who just got a PS3 of his own) was getting the downloading settings and it staying there for minutes directly connected to the router, meanwhile I could log on and off the server multiple times on my PS3 that's hooked up wirelessly.

JAFO is correct, it worked fine untill the day after christmass. Guess everyone finished the single player game and got on line. Sever overload. Must have sold well or better than they expected.

Today was the first time I tried playing this online. I got it for Christmas and beat the game already (wayyy too short) and figured "Hey! I'll try it online!" and now I am running into the same problems. Kinda sucks...
