Fast 8 will bring home the bacon, not sure if it can crack $150M but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. I'll be there that Saturday seeing it in IMAX.

I would be surprised if it came close to F7

I think the series has peaked box office wise.

Ya that one had a lot of emotional push behind it. Honestly I would have been fine to have the franchise end there.

This may or may not be a mistake (given that Box Office Mojo tends to be pretty accurate, it likely isn't), but it seems as though Spark's nationwide release has been cancelled and bumped down to just a measly 350 theaters.

On the other hand, Gifted is apparently opening at around 1,000 locations. Seems like Fox doesn't want to take its time expanding that one and is pushing it to a wide release right away.

Furious 8 will take in over $100 million, but won't top the previous movie's total take.

Movies are made to make money...the chance of the series ending after the last movie was minus infinity.

The F&F franchise is the biggest sure-fire money-maker Universal has right now...since the fifth one, each installment has taken in about a BILLION DOLLARS worldwide. And critics like them too. As long as they want to keep making these engagingly silly things, I'll keep going.

I realize that, I was just stating that I wouldn't have been upset if they came out & said that F7 was the last one.

Everyone keeps saying that, yet they continue to make more and more.

Seeing it sometime on Sunday. I bought the 1-7 box set awhile back and I'm gonna burn through them all again on Saturday, so it depends on when I get them done, when I see it.

This will be only my 2nd time seeing Tokyo Drift.

F7 made $147M opening weekend. Will it really have that big of a drop off? I could understand if F7 were terrible and scared people away from seeing this one, but it wasn't.

Its going to make a lot of money no doubt, but I think F7 will stay the highest grossing entry.

I'd say around $110M - $120M.

F8 - $90-110 Million

Spark: A Space Tail - $1-5 Million (Box Office Mojo says it's only opening in 350 theaters in America)

I think F8 will underperform expectations. I just don't feel like the hype is there for this one. $100-$110m is my guess. I can't see it coming anywhere near close to F7's opening. That movie had people, myself included, crying at the end of it seeing Paul's send off. It had an emotional push/hype that's gone.

Agreed. I have zero desire to see this one, but my wife does since we've watched all of the other movies. There's nothing about this entry that looks good to me and I'm hoping against hope that it underperforms.

I hate to burst your bubble, but this should do well in the US, even BETTER internationally.

I was reading that tracking for F8 is a lot lower than previous installments
