I don't believe one will be made.

But I do think we'll be pleasantly surprised by some
upcoming announced titles.

Well it would be nice to hear someone like Target or Best Buy announcing Blu-ray exclusivity.. but that is doubtful.
It would be nice to hear WB go BD exclusive, but that too is doubtful.
It would be nice to hear Apple adding BD burners, but the will happen at Macworld, not CES, if at all.
It would be nice to hear Universal going neutral, but I highly doubt that.

So anything that is announced will surprise me.

At least I expect to hear Blu-ray releases of Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, and Matrix trilogy.

my predictions are wb catching up on titles, 1 retailer goes blu-ray exclusive, POSSIBLY Weinstein goes blu, i don't think any major movie studios will drop hd dvd or begin to support blu.

I'm thinking it will mostly hit on upcoming BD releases and some players/hardware... not really expecting any news from movie studios or from BDA members.

Warner announces specific release dates for Batman Begins and the Matrix trilogy, confirming many of the rumors circulating on this site. New Line also announces plans to bring the LOTR trilogy to High-Def, in time for the 2008 holiday season or Q1 of 2009. Inevitably, lack of region coding and pending Blu-ray exclusivity would preclude an HD DVD release of this trilogy .

Sub-$200 Chinese players will be exhibited, expected to hit the market in Q3 of 2008.

Even better and more importantly, a complete Blu-ray player with internal DTS-MA decoding will be exhibited (does the Marantz do internal DTS-MA? I know it "supports" it, but got the impression it was only via bitstream), along with the first profile-2.0 certified/compliant players.

In all likelihood, a Chinese company will exhibit a sub-$200 HD-DVD player as well, but said player will end up never being released for obvious reasons.

Most importantly, no studio exclusivity agreements will be announced or even discussed, although a retailer exclusivity announcement (most likely regarding an smaller retailer, like Target) may be made.

Disclaimer: These are my unfounded predictions. I do not have any insider knowledge or sources leading me to believe these things, other than what may have been discussed previously on this forum.

Personally, I don't expect any big announcements as far as studios changing sides or anything like that. I also don't expect Universal to announce to many big movies. I expect them to kind of be layed back as far as movie releases go. I expect Paramount to be all pro-HD DVD and talk about releases like Beowulf and Iron Man. And then they'll slip up and be like "We'll also be releasing Indiana Jones on HD DVD this year" and have to personally issue a retraction and an apology to Steven Spielberg for being idiots.

Some movies I expect to be announced:
Armageddon (10th Anniversary)
The Da Vinci Code
Batman Begins
Bad Boys II (possibly both Bad Boys movies)

But that's about it, nothing major.

Universal goes neutral (or maybe even ditches HD-DVD altogether) & Warner announces some of the "missing" titles for Blu-ray.

one more thing i forgot to add, its more like what won't happen and that is, besides the catch up titles, WB will not make any more release announcements. they might say something like I Am Legend will come out in Q2, but nothing specific. at the end of the show, wb will have basically made it obvious they are choosing a side, without announcing it.

Nothing special. BDA and HDDVD PG both spin hoards of data in their advantage and restate everything we've heard them say 10000 times over, with Blu-Ray actually having the most realistic data. Yet another cockfight about raw data vs. "we believe HD-DVD offers the best value for our consumers"

Titles will be announced by participating studios. Some new players will be announced by participating manufacturers. I don't mean to be ho-hum but the best thing I think will happen is maybe a Batman Begins announcement or a new budget entry-level player. Warner could totally shock me, but I'm definitely not holding my breath.

Frankly, I am more excited about Macworld later this month and the rumor that will bring Blu-Ray drives to all new Apple computers. I'd be all over that since I'm in need of an upgrade.

EDIT: Warner is going Blu-Ray exclusive. My original post stands as called, however!

New BD players will be announced. Hopefully cheaper MSRp's as well as players with full TrueHD and DTS-HDMA support as well as wifi capability for easier firmware downloads and faster load times.

I don't see any major announcements on switching sides.....but who knows.

Sony announces plans to build HD DVD players and states desire to implement HD DVD drives in all computers by Q4.

Toshiba announces FULL-ER-HD sets which will then begin a new format war between 720p/1080i/1080p sets and the FULL-ER-HD sets which have a resolution of 480p, but really are better- trust them.

In all seriousness, hopefully Warner declares Blu-exclusivity, but I don't think that will happen just yet.
