all right, now that i am home and settled back in a bit, i wanted to share my holiday contribution. on the 22nd, i basically woke up and had it in my mind that my dad was going to buy himself a BR player. he is a gear head like me, so he knew the excitement of the tech and that. so he's did "well, we'll look." we head over to BB and are looking around. he was almost instantly ready to purchase. what really did him in was a side by side comparison of DVD and BR. he basically pulled a "holy shit, i'm sold." so we're looking at some of the different players and went with the samsung 1400. obviously it supports dts-hd and that. i really wanted to go the new panny for him, but at $200+ cheaper we decided that the price point was nicer for him. what then amazed me was that he then purchased two players (the icing on the cake). apparently her DVD player is acting up, so i was able to sell two players + media. i was happy with myself
