Right. Just remembered that after all, this one's from Saina who hasn't had a BD release yet.
Still, odd to see a fairly recent film like Mahesh coming on BD long after the DVD release and multiple Asianet telecasts. They could've at least reduced the price, considering that delay alone.

That said, the film is great both in terms of content and style, so it should definitely make for a good BD release.

The film has won the Kerala State Film Awards for the Best Popular Film, as well as for the Best Script (Shyam Pushkaran). Fahadh Faasil was one of the frontrunners for the Best Actor award, but lost to Vinayakan (Kammattippadam). I guess the "low-budget butterfly effect" sequence may have prompted the jury to finalize on their choice of the best script.

I'm glad to see regular Malayalam releases. They are making some pretty good movies these days. Hopefully we'll get Angamaly Diaries on Blu-Ray.

I would buy that on day 1. It's a flawed movie but still terrific in terms of form and execution. Between Angamally, Maheshinte and Action Hero Biju, I see redemption for Malayalam films 😀

I'd replace Action Hero Biju with Kammattippadam in that list.

While an almost realistic account of a cop's everyday life, Biju falls short of being great, thanks to Nivin trying hard to emulate Suresh Gopi / Suriya at certain points (including that unusually over the top climax) as well as a few scenes that justify some grave public misconceptions (like the infamous "guys with long hair are junkies" one). For me, Suraj was the one who stole the whole show with his heart-rending cameo.
