Angry NETFLIX Officially Starts Poor Practices With FilmKRAFT

Guys....Netflix has finally done the unthinkable!

Rakesh Roshan signs with NetFlix no more than 2 weeks ago. I wanted to wait until NETFLIX uploads enough FilmKRAFT productions before starting a thread!

KNPH (2000) uploaded in 1080 (7.15 Mbps) in DD+ (5.1)

KRRISH (2006) uploaded in 1080 (6.19 Mbps) in DD+ (5.1)

KRRISH 3 (2014) uploaded in 1080 (7.15 Mbps) in DD+ (5.1)

so far so good right.........

NETFLIX recently uploads KMG (2003) in 480 (1.47 Mbps) in PCM Stereo (2.0). To make matters worse, KMG is cropped to 1.85:1 and resolution is barely 320p not even close to 480 as listed.

KMG original aspect ratio is 2.35:1 and OST is in 5.1 Dolby Digital EX.

other highly anticipated FilmKRAFT productions yet to upload are KOYLA, KARAN ARJUN, KING UNCLE, KHEL, KISHAN KANHAIYA, KHUDGARZ, KHOON BHARI MAANG.

This is really sad guys. KMG turned out to be a shocker. especially, such recent release. So many 90s and 80s filmKRAFT productions are still to be uploaded. Many could be "cropped" and non-HD even when HD and 5.1 is available.

Yes.. I was surfing netflix last night and was so excited to see KNPH and KMG on there. BOTH PQ/AQ are a disaster. I was shocked. This means Koyla & Karan Arjun (which i have been waiting years for) are going to be in terrible quality as well. Is there someone we can all email/tweet etc? something has to be done to stop this nonsense.

^Wouldn't Hrithik Roshan have a twitter account? I would expect that current-gen actors have very active online account management who would at least bring it to the notice of concerned parties at the actor's end. What happens after that would be your luck.

Ofcourse it wudnt hurt to approach hritik etc. for this . But i personally feel these people seldom live in the past the way their fans do. For most ppl actually working in the industry, their sole focus is on current and upcoming releases in cinemas.

First of all nobody in the industry cares about home video version of their films, and second they dont have any idea how much value it holds for their audiences to treasure the movies and relive the experience in best possible format at home. For fans, the repeat praising the filmmakers and performers for their best works of cinema and (out of sheer love) ignoring their worst as if it never existed and then ultimately buying that product for personal use is an exciting, life entertaining experience. But alas its not even remotely so for the ppl actually involved in the product creation. Its Simple- they never live in the past.

From a business standpoint it's foolish not to present these old films in the best way possible so they can continue generating revenue.

But we are talking about India, where most buyers are actually happy with substandard quality prints of movies.

What you said is "all good" but please do realise....

As a NETFLIX member, you are charged $10 per month for HD. Even 5.1 DD is not guaranteed if OST is not 5.1.

There must be enough South Asian Diaspora that pays that and since sample size is big enough, NETFLIX is going out to India and signing with RCE, FilmKRAFT, AK productions etc etc etc.

We only know AK Productions alone is paid 100 Crores for DANGAL rights.

Nobody knows how much RCE is paid by Netflix for all their Rights for like 15 films. I could be close to 1000 Crores because of SRK popularity alone.

Thats all fine because RCE actually tries to restore, remaster and give audience the best viewing pleasure after paying $10 per month.

Shouldn't FilmKRAFT do the same?

250-300 crores?? are given to FilmKRAFT by NETFLIX on our behalf, the $10 indian diaspora members to give them HD products of "all" their catalog releases.

On the contrary, things might go the other way. RR Sr might delberately hold back FilmKRAFT SRK trilogy forever to punish SRK fans (even Sallu fans) worldwide and release everything else.

There is this possibility. We might only see KISHEN KANHAYA and KHEL as 1990s decade releases.

You mistake the large Indian diaspora in the US and U.K as being sophisticated consumers and demanding quality in their films! The content most of them view ought to be an indication to the contrary

NETFLIX has customer's choice for $8.00 SD package for "unsophisticated" ones.

If NETFLIX customer pays $10.00 for HD version in the name of "sophistication",

why are "sophisticated" ones discriminated against? All Netflix has to do is take away $10 HD choice

If FilmKRAFT can get away with sneeking in very poor SD version of KMG (2003), RCE, YRF, VVC, Dharma will soon follow.

alright so its decided. We flood HR's twitter account. Actually So does Rajesh Roshan and Filmkraft have accounts. Having fewer followers he might even read our tweets. So lets do this today. Tag Netflix in your tweets too. Also Add that YRF and RCE are all HD.

Saw last night that they added KNPH but I didnt watch it. The Krrish movies are trash so I don't care about those, if KNPH is in good shape then that's good news. Hopefully Karan Arjun and Koyla are treated well, too.

Lightbulb For the members who are keeping score....

NETFLIX vs AMAZON war in India goes like this so far....

NETFLIX Tie ups
-Red Chillies Entertainment
-Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd (RANGOON coming up)
-FilmKRAFT
-Eagle Films
-United Producers
-Aamir Khan (AK) Productions

AMAZON Tie ups
-Yash Raj Films (YRF)
-Dharma Production
-T-Series
-Shree Venkatesh films
-Everest entertainment
-V Creations
-Dream Warrior.

more tie up to come but Amazon Prime Video is clearly leading the race with many independent indian programming tie ups.

I dont know how this will affect the US/UK Indian diaspora NRI viewers but I still see KKHH, DDLJ, DTPH etc etc which are Dharma productions or YRF on Netflix.

These tie-ups could strictly for 300 million local Indian audiences.

All of the Filmkraft movies are also available on Amazon’s Heera channel and with the same SD quality. Heera has already over 500 Indian movies which is a lot for a new channel. I think Amazon is slowly transferring their Indian catalog to Heera. Amazon is also getting exclusive rights to new Indian movies like Shivaay and Baar Baar Dekho which are already on Heera in HD/5.1. I think that by going to India both Netflix and Amazon found out that Indians don’t care about quality and so why should they. I’m hoping that I’m wrong and that with time all of the SD movies will be re-mastered.

Netflix is having a lot of issues recently.

If I want to watch HDDCS in HD and PBDHH in HD, I need EROS NOW Subscription. Both I never saw from start to finish even once.

If I want to watch TAAL in HD and PARDES in HD, I need NETFLIX subscription.

If I want to watch DOSTANA (1980) and AGNEEPATH (1990) in HD, I need AMAZON PRIME subsciption.

we still need to purchase HD prints off Google Play or Itunes.

All this adds up, its a lot of money. I am contemplating canceling my NETFLIX subscription for good.

This is such BS. These bollywood produciton houses are milking NRI customer base while non-NRIs can watch everything on Star Gold HD, Z Cinema HD etc etc...

Hindustani,

My friend knows the FilmKraft team. I'll pass on the message. KNPH, Krrish, Krrish 3 look and sound great but yes KMG looks like crap.

thanks
