Default How many times do you double dip on a movie after you say you won't buy it.

Idk if this happens to anyone else. You own a favorite moviebof yours. A newer edition with more features or new print etc is announced. You say that you won't buy it because you already own it. Then as release date approaches or new features are announced you end up buying it anyway. How many times has this happened to you?

I'm sure I won't be the only person to say this but I have bought the Star Wars movies multiple times.

Original trilogy on VHS
Special Edition VHS
Phantom Menace VHS
Executor Tin VHS

Phantom Menace DVD 2 disc set
Attack of the Clones DVD 2 disc set
Revenge of the Sith DVD 2 disc set

Special Edition DVD Trilogy with Bonus - 4 disc set

Original Trilogy individual releases DVD 2 disc sets

Blu ray Saga Box Set

The Force Awakens 2 disc Blu ray

The Force Awakens 3D Blu ray 3 disc set

Rogue One 2 disc Blu ray

I still have all of them except the VHS which I sold off years ago. The documentary on the Phantom Menace bonus disc and the mammoth feature on the 4th disc with the Trilogy box set are both brilliant.

Very rarely for me. The movies I HAVE double dipped, are usually format wise. I've owned the following on VHS/Betamax, laserdisc and now Blu-ray.

Alien, Aliens (and their box sets)
Star Wars (original trilogy)
Robocop 1 & 2
Jaws
The Exorcist
Earthquake
Poseidon Adventure
Towering Inferno
The Omen/ Damien: Omen II
The Blob (1958)
The Elm Street series
Gremlins 1 & 2

I will sometimes also double dip, for new extras/better pic/sound, etc.. I don't think, I'll be jumping on the 4K bandwagon, anytime soon. It's way too expensive, to buy the same titles, all over again. Plus I am extremely happy with how blu-rays look and sound.

I typically do it in order to upgrade, though in some cases, like the Labyrinth or The Grinch Blu-rays, it's to get the newer transfers. So, at least once or twice, to answer your question.

Spartacus restored and Arrow's version of The Hills Have Eyes spring immediately to mind. I also double dipped on Fear and Loathing and a few others from Criterion.

But that's if we're only talking about blu-rays.

If our definition of double dipping includes DVD's being upgraded to blu-ray... I'm somewhere north of 2,500. Frightening, I know. At first, I was hesitant to upgrade my DVD's, but the floodgates have been open for several years now.

Despite this, I still have about 1,850 DVD's, and about 1,750 of them haven't even been released on the blu-ray format. I hope the majority of those 1,750 films eventually see the light of day.

I think most of us girls and guys buy multiple times to get the best version of the films we love... picture quality, sound or even the supp's. Films that fall off our lust list over time... not so much.

Being serious now I will upgrade any title if I feel it is warranted. The only ones I can think of that I haven't upgraded are the following:

Invasion of the Body Snatchers - Waiting on price drop
Dog Day Afternoon - Waiting on price drop since it's just for AQ
Million Dollar Baby - Waiting on price drop since it's just for AQ
Prisoners (DE) - Just hit my price
Three Amigos (DE) - Waiting on price drop

Depends on the movie. I will most likely buy Star Wars until the end of time. . . .

Yeah, too many. I'll hold out for a while but will end up picking up upgrades a year later or so.
