does anyone have any comments or opinions on these 2 panasonic model players? i am in the market for one and not sure what to do.
if i buy the BD30 i have to upgrade my receiver to get the audio decodes if i buy the BD10 it will decode and i wont have to upgrade the receiver right now. however i heard the PQ on the BD30 is incredible, how about the BD10 PQ, any thoughts or comments from owners of these players? thanks for your help ![]() |

Hard choice..I went from the BD10 to the BD30 recently for 1.1 profile and 24p output support. If you have a Sony XBR4/5 or a tv that accepts 24p(fps) input I'd go with the bd30. Picture is great, but unless I had them side by side with dual screens I could not tell if there was a difference in PQ...So I can't comment on that aspect.
The BD30 also loads movies faster than the BD10. Something I'm glad got improved. |

I just upgraded from a Sony BDP-S1 and I am really enjoying the improvements. It's a shame that Sony does not have a 1.1 player on the market. The one thing I miss is there is not bitrate meter on the DB30 (unless I am missing something). |

If not for AVCHD and BDMV playing capabilities I would not own either Panasonic. I think they are somewhat overrated. I also have a Samsung 1200 and think its picture looks superior. The Samsung will not do AVCHD though. I have also seen some Sonys which I think look better than the Panasonics, but the Sonys will not play BDMV disks ... frustrating. So, I think the Panasonics are maybe the best overall compromise. If the audio decodes are important to you and you have not upgraded or don't plan on upgrading your receiver, by all means go with the BD10. If the latest profile is important to you, go with the BD30 especially if you have or are planning on purchasing a new display. If I had a choice between BD10 or BD30, I would buy whichever one I could get cheaper. Last edited by californiajay; 01-06-2008 at 07:14 PM. |
