Which has the better picture quality?
The UK Masters of Cinema Blu-ray or the German Filmjuwelen BD?

The MoC Blu-ray is great, that's all I can say. Definitely not a bad choice to go with.

Agreed. I can't offer a direct comparison there but I was very satisfied with the MoC release.

I'm also interested in a direct comparison. All i can say by now is that i'm having the german release and that i'm very satisfied with the transfer. Nevertheless in ordered the MoC today to make a direct comparison. As soon as i have the MoC received i can share my thoughts here if you're interested.

Did you compare those two? Anyhoo, caps-a-holic has a comparison with the recent Criterion BD, which somehow manages to look dated and cruddy compared to the 8 years older Eureka disc.

Wow that Criterion does look shoddy and yet the infamous Dr. Svet claims it comes from the same master and gave it basically the same high score.

Probably a dumb question but is there a difference between these version? Both seem to have DVD+bluray combo.
I thought perhaps it's a reversible cover art, but can't find anything about that on the Eureka page.

What's the first one? I can't find that anywhere online, only the second one. Does the first one have a different number?

The Onibaba BD no longer has a DVD included, unless you can find an older copy.

The "green" cover is just an earlier/temporary art that went unused (it's a "green" variation to their original DVD release):

Fab film. I first saw it about 20 years, I think it was on Sky Arts.

MoC screenshots here.
