I have ordered from them a few times. They have a very outdated website/system but it works I guess. It seems like they manually process your credit card on their debit/credit machine so when you get your order you will get a printed receipt like you would if you use your credit card in a store.

Some of their prices are a bit more reasonable now and they offer free shipping on all purchases.

Also, for anyone who dislikes bilingual packaging, even though they're a Canadian company, they only sell the US versions of all of their releases.

I was under the assumption this site was a Canadian wholesaler. So, this storefront is meant for non-business customers? The CSID is the wholesaler arm of C&L?

I guess so. I've only ever purchased from them as if they were a regular store. Their actual physical location is a tiny warehouse in an industrial park in south Burnaby that you can only browse if you're a "member".

I live relatively near C&L and have been dropping by for years, just buying titles for myself. I'm not a retailer or anything like that. A few times per year, they have a 10% sale. They're always friendly with me. I have purchased from their in-stock inventory and requested MOD movies. Compared to other vendors, most of their titles are more expensive in comparison. I have found them to carry some harder-to-find titles and there is a huge selection of anime titles.

It's not laid out like a store and not set up for casual browsing. The layout is more similar to a library, with rows of shelving with the collections divided into labels (Warner, MGM, Buena Vista, Criterion, etc.), Blu-ray, 4K, etc.

If someone plans to visit, I recommend reviewing the website in advance and know what you want before you go. You must register (free) on the website, as you will need to provide a membership ID number to enter the inventory room. You could also place an order ahead of time and pick it up at the front desk.

I've now made two different orders from them and they shipped both orders quickly and everything I got was a pristine US copy (especially compared to ordering from places like Amazon).

The knock on them (aside from pricing) would be they don't send shipping notification emails. You can look on their website at your account and see the invoice that was created and see that they are using letter mail to get an idea that your order is on the way at least.

Still two orders, one placed at the same time I ordered from Unobstructed View and another a week after and I have received both. Meanwhile, two weeks in and nothing from Unobstructed View.

I really wish they would bring their website to the 21st century or at the very least offer paypal as a payment option.

C&L Internet Club is having a sale this weekend. In a rare instance, it appears the sale is applicable to online orders too. The discount is just 7% but usually, the sale is limited to in-store only. (Fine for me because I live nearby. Not so much for someone relying on an online purchase.)

Quote:
Our Easter Weekend Sale runs Friday April 15 through until Monday April 18.
The warehouse hours are:
Fri. noon-5pm
Sat. noon-5pm
Sun. noon-5pm
Mon. noon-5pm

Online members, please use promo code EASTER22 when placing your order. An additional 7% discount will be taken off your invoice when we ship your in-stock order. Orders are still eligible for Free Shipping.

All in-person purchases by C&L Members will receive the 7% discount on in-stock items, no promo code needed.

This sale applies to all in stock products, including:
- DVDs, Blu-Rays, 4K UHD
- Manga Books, Art Books, Light Novels
- wall scrolls, playing cards, deskmats
- Japan Import DEMON SLAYERS STAMP SETS FROM JAPAN POST.

(tell your friends to sign up ahead of time at https://www.thecnl.com/).

Please note: face masks are required. Be Safe Everyone!

Yeah, occasionally BestBuy ships items using Lettermail. I agree with you. This method annoying and untrackable. I contacted Canada Post customer service to confirm.

I'm guessing they're maintaining the website themselves. They probably could update it, but they'd need to pass that expense onto the customers. I don't want higher prices. Most of their prices are already higher than other retailers.

I was digging through the settings on my account on their site and found this:

I don't know if this is actually in effect still and has any effect on pricing, but still interesting.

I'm not sure those pertain to random customers. They have a dealer program wherein a minimum $1000 order would need to be maintained per month. I've been going there for years. Other than the publicly announced sales, I've never received a special discount. Often my order is $100 or more.

It definitely tracks for anyone who is a member/customer, but I'm not sure if any special discounts apply.

On my profile I've been put into one of the tiers/group levels and it's tracking my spending over different time periods.

It says near the bottom that "Dealers, wholesalers, or resellers are excluded from the ranking calculations." It's probably for individuals that spend hundreds per month and you probably won't get a discount unless you're in the top 15% or 3%.
